Don't block the F'en mirror!

The general point here is gym etiquette and simple courteousy. However, 20 feet is quite a distance and the guy may not have known you were even there. If there were other equipment inbetween you and the mirror, then with all due respect the guy has the right to use it. However, when the mirror is only a few feet away that's a whole different story. When someone clearly sees you doing a set and there are other things to use that don't construe ones view, one should have the manners to give someone else space.

Something that happened to me in the past one time was that I ran out of water so I had to use the water fountain. As I was drinking some prick wanted to use the fountain and practically pressed his body right up against mine. So I get up and tell the guy politely, "You mind giving me some space to drink? Don't worry there will be plenty of water left for you." Fuckin guy was so close to I could have beat his ass down then charged him for sexual harassment.

Is that a joke?

I was squatting a few months ago...the mirror couldn't have been 6 feet in front of me...about 2 feet in front of the rack. When I'm IN THE MIDDLE OF MY SET, some nut job stands in front of me, looking at me, and reaches around the rack to grab some weight. Not behind me, RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME WHILE I'M DOING MY SET. I flipped!

"ARE YOU A FUCKING IDIOT? DO YOU NOT SEE ME SQUATTING RIGHT HERE? IF I COULD THROW THIS WEIGHT AT YOU I WOULD! GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME BEFORE I CHOKE THE LIFE RIGHT OUT OF YOUR DUMB ASS!"

So yes, I think it's a legit complaint.

You were prolly nicer about it than I was.

why were you squatting somewhere where people needed access to get weights?

dont get me wrong, you might not have explained it well and you might be 100% in the right, but at the same time you should chat to your gym managment to set the gym out so that this doesnt happen again

personally i hate people that are inconsiderate in where they stand/lay to do their exercises, like the guys taht do dumbbell curls right in front of the rack. personally i just cruise right on in and grab the weight from in front of them. if it ruins your set, its your own bloody fault. think before you do something.

anyway to the original poster of this thread, being polite is free. being impolite usually costs you reputation, and maybe a friend. if you had told me to get the fuck out of your way i would have told you that doing weights with your hand on your dick is pretty fucking amazing :)

20 feet is out in the burbs mate, cool it

Personally if your looking at yourself in the mirror the weight is WAY to light and you need to rethink what it is you are there for!!!!!!!!

Okay probably not the most appropriate question to pose here but, whatever it got some people rowed up and I got my question answered.
So I'm clear. You would be just a content in a gym with no mirrrors? Youre such a dick and I'll leave it at that. I used to workout in the Worlds Gym in Severna Park, MD. and I learned a lot from listenening and training with the owner. Its amazing no matter what gym you walk in from Maine to Cali 99.99% of them have mirrors, the .01% are for the blind.

Quad's example is an extreme one and I def. would've been pissed....however, in general, as much as I can't stand ignorance...we have to remember that at one time, no matter how long ago it was, we all were a bit ignorant to gym ettiquette....also, what does it matter at all if the ignorant dude is a skinny little fuck with 14'' arms and popsicle stick legs...why do bros always have to throw that in when they're raging on someone ..do these particular physical characteristics have anything to do at all with the issue at hand, everyone has the right to train..no matter how big or small they are...if it was a 250lb Test. monkey with 21'' arms standing in front of the mirror, would that have made a difference...everyone deserves equal respect. I'm DEF not saying that these ignorant people shouldn't be spoken to, but theres a way to do it...a way to make us big juiced up bodybuilders sound and look as intelligent and articulate as many of us are....a simple, "hey bro, could ya move a bit, I'm in the middle of my set and I need the mirror" would prob suffice, and I would guess the dude would be wiser for the experience....If theres one thing I can't stand is a juiced up meathead that acts like the stereotypical arrogant on-the-verge-of-ripping-someones-head-off roid-rager....I've personally witnessed it several times and its an embarrassment to all us gear users...it contributes so negatively to the damaging detrimental stereotype that steroids cause uncontrollable outbursts and rage. If this is truly how you must act when cycling..then I guess you cant handle doing steroids, stick with creatine. I mean, I get a bit edgier when on, but I always keep it in stride to promote and uphold a positive image for us gear users...I think it is of utmost importance that especially nowadays, we do whatever possible to prove these stereotypes wrong....we as Gear users are all on a federally-funded fast track to becoming public enemy number 1...we must fight this, otherwise we might as well be signing up as posterboys for the next Fox Anti-Steroid special...just my .02 "sense"...[/QUOT]

Point well taken!

Interesting read...should I take this thread EOD or ED. Also do you think I should stack this thread with "this guy in my gym stinks" or is that over doing it? One last thing, what kind of PTT (post thread therapy) should I do for this type of thread? I mean I don't want to crash or lose any gains I got from this thread. Thanks in advance. Karma to all that help me out. Sorry not trying to hijak.

Misery is all JATCA69 sees as his mindstate, his history with the gym police is like a crimewave.....

karma, bro......Karma....

:lmao:

But a mirror above your bed. They are great right ?? What beats a hot chic on top of you blocking the mirror yet arching her back so far back so she can see her self in action ahhhhhhhh ?? This damn test makes me post like this sorry to offend anyone :)

There are 4 or 5 squat racks set up in a row, each with their own racks for weights. The guy next to me didn't have whatever weight he needed, and decided he had to get it from me.

anyway, I'm still with FknKnuckleHd. I'm very aware of guys doing sets around me. Even though 20 ft sounds like alot, the guy could have stood 5 feet to the left or right. And it's easy to say that he *could* have been more polite.
So next time someone cuts you off in traffic, pull up next to the guy and say, "Excuse me sir, could you watch where you're going next time?" instead of flipping him off and shouting "asshole!" out the window.
Or the next telemarketer that calls say, "Could you call me back after dinner so we can discuss this further?" instead of just rudely hanging up.

Right away this is because he's a juicer and he's furthuring the stereotype. When in fact, it was important enough for the other guy to stand right in front of the mirror, but not important enough for him to notice if anyone else was. I just think that's stupid. And with all the stupidity we deal with from day to day in life, sometimes someone gets an earful.

I guess I shouldn't say that. From the sound of it, none of you guys ever release some anger on some bullwinkle in your lives. I guess that makes me the asshole of the board.

Yes,mirrors are nice but you don't really need them to workout.

Only metrosexuals absolutely NEED the mirrors.
