Yeah I think it's pretty much a given that you'll be on empty after doing deads(especially the 5x5).
That's why I do them every other week as opposed to weekly. On my non-deadlifting back days, I start with pullups and heavy rows to get in the work that I couldn't get because of exhaustion from deads. On the back days where I do deads, I usually follow them with some rows and lat pulldowns in the higher rep ranges with focus on squeezing hard at the end of each rep.
Back when I was deadlifting every week, I did reach a point where I was able to still get a full back workout done, but it took a lot longer because I needed a few minutes after that last set of deads to rest. Grip is also a big factor depending on if you're using straps or not.
