Has anyone seen the 2008 WSM competition. Do you see that guy from Norway who is only 22 years old and is a fckn monster....Life is so unfair....there is no amount of juice i can take, protien i can eat or years i can lift throught my entire life to look like him...and he does already at 22...im fckn 22.. you know how depressing it is knowing hes my age and he looks like that i look like this..

Some people just have amazing genetics!!!

Has to be said that I've been very impressed with the USA entrants this year. Good to see them all supporting each other too. Seems Europe has some catching up to do next year.

Derek Poundstone has already beaten him once...

And still, the top athletes aren't even affiliated with the "WSM", they are with another organization that doesn't get as much TV time. Poundstone and Ortmayer were with the other organization and placing around 10-15th place.

Last time Mariuz went up against them head to head...he placed 6th.

IFSA doesn't exist anymore but the guy who is basically running the show for "IFSA" is calling it the Strongman Champions League. He is really open to all athletes being together and having lots of options (great even for guys like me).

There are BIG hopes for there to be ONE World Championship next year with everyone who qualifies to be invited.

Down side is that there are a lot of guys you see from the USA who probably won't make the cut. There will be A LOT of guys that won't make the cut for sure, as a World Championship is VERY expensive to run. I believe it starts around $65,000 if it is in Europe...quite a bit more if you want to have it in the USA (maybe 2-3x).

It really isn't political...it is financial. If you invested thousands and thousands of $ into a series of contests for the year then you are also investing into the athletes that take a part of the shows. It isn't easy. Always trying to secure which athletes will show up where, how much they will get paid, etc...

I know of one WSM-SS Athlete that IFSA spent quite a lot on only for him to do one show (I believe it was) then go straight to the WSM-SS events. All after he gave his word that he wouldn't do so.

And it was always the rumor that if you competed with IFSA that you couldn't compete at any non-IFSA shows...which was totally false. Several of the guys at IFSA Worlds promote a lot of their own shows all over Europe that aren't sanctioned. The guys with IFSA and the new organization that I've worked with have worked really hard to do the best that they can for everyone.
