Does anyone know how to tie a "granny knot"?

Quick definitions (granny knot)

noun: a reef knot crossed the wrong way and therefore insecure

That totally didn't help one bit...

Granny knot
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The granny knot is a bend knot, used to tie together two loose ends. It looks a lot like the reef knot, or square knot, and is sometimes confused with it. When attempting to tie a reef knot, it can be easy to substitute a granny knot accidentally, but this is dangerous because the latter slips if heavily tested. Once the granny knot is too tightly knit, it is not as easy to undo as the reef knot. It is better to tie a reef knot in nearly all circumstances. One way to distinguish them is that in the reef knot each loop passes completely over, or completely under (not through) the neck of the other.

The reef knot is commonly taught as left over right, tuck under then right over left, tuck under. The granny knot is the first step repeated twice, left over right, tuck under. This is a very common mistake made by people learning to tie a reef knot.

The Zeppelin bend should be used instead of both the granny knot and bend knot, as it is safer.

I need to tie my string silencers on my bowstring using a granny knot, but I can't find out how to do it.

I should probalby post this in the hunting board, lol.

oh wait LOL, I read the "insecure" in the post above to mean that the knot has emotional issues lmao

CAUTION: A granny knot looks a bit like a reef knot, but the bitter ends will be on opposite sides of the bights from the standing parts. Beware of the granny ... she's slippery and can't take a load.
HUH? I know it is not a strong knot. He just asked how to tie it and there is a pic at the top of the granny.

granny knot?

as long as there are no references to Ballons in this thread I guess we're safe

Another name for the Anus. Also reffered to as the Angry Spider in the unfortunate case that the balloon knot is surrounded by hair resembling a spiders legs.

take away her metamucil and prune juice...that'll tie her up in a knot fuur shurrrrr!

(rim shot please, mr drummer)

SWeet, thanks.

The only other way I know to do it is this way, and I don't have any extra serving.

Meh, I should just probably go to the store and get some, lol.

I've actually heard that dental floss can be used in a pinch as a substitute for serving. I just don't wanna spend $25 on a roll of serving if I don't need it all. This archery crap is expensive, and killing my left rotator cuff from a previous injury many years ago. I love it.

BTW, I understand you are a government agent now, Samoth.

LOL, I didn't expect any sexual or government innuendoes in this thread. I pretty much got my answer, so you can all continue to hijack this thread into something more interesting than how to tie a knot with rope, lol. I've yet to have a thread of the week... [giddy] Maybe this will be the one!! Tee hee![/giddy]

Man, I should really go to bed or something.

Pants.

Damn, now I want to go cuddle a lemur and eat some linguini. Did I mention pie? Yeah, I have plenty of pie.

If you haven't read Nathan's Huntor Pegor stories, you must do so at your earliest convenience. They are sheer brilliant. (There's links to them in this thread.)
