Do you touch the bar to your chest when you bench?

I always have, but people have told me that it's bad for your shoulders and will cause problems down the line. thoughts/experiences?
 
Bar needs to lightly touch. If it's a competition lift there has to be a pause before the return trip.

Injuries could from either flaring your elbows on the way down or allowing the bar to sink into your chest once it's touched in order to bounce it back up.
 
Only when doing a 1 rep max will I touch the chest.


Other than that I never touch the bar to my chest during rep sets. My natural range of motion doesn't like it. It hurts my shoulders.
 
I have found this is the best bench tecnique!!!
 
if i touched it to my chest my left should would tear off...rotator cuff injuires rock let me tell you
