Do you think the space program (NASA) should stop?

Scientific and technological advancement is one of humanity's few bragging rights.

As far as a human community goes we suck in many ways, but not when it comes to science, we've figured some really nifty shit out in a very short (in human evolutionary terms) time.

NASA and all scientific research should get more funding, it might save the planet or allow us to move to another planet once we fucked this one up enough.

Good response, I never thought about being able to one day move to another planet..... seems far fetched however thats what the thread is about , the different ways that NASA may benefit us in the future..

Look at the last hundred years' development.

We need to divert more money into NASA.

People in general don't want to think about the future -- they only care about themselves in the here and now. Hence, most people won't understand why something like a space program benefits mankind.
How has it benefited the human race other than providing jobs? Have they discovered anything that is useful? What do you think lies ahead in the space program and how do you think it will benefit mankind?

If you were able to graph human accumulated knowledge over time/human generations, you would see the graph only increase very slowly for thousands of years, then in the last 100 years it absolutely skyrocketed. If the rate of technolgical and scientific advancement keeps speeding up like it has in the previous century then it doesn't seem far fetched at all.

Remember there is a lot of money to be made in space- and that rightly or wrongly will eventually drive us there.

Anyone want to buy mining permits for Jupiter's moons? How about Martian real estate?

b0und (my 2 cents)
