As you were..

PS>Where is the 3rd word, Tommy boy.

you can get off your ass and drive across the country today if you wanted, so yes you are free. ask someone in prison what they think about being free and you will have a different outlook on life I promise you. just as long i'm not in a 8 by 9 cell I'll consider myself free.

Welcome to the 3rd word thread...

Mega karma should be rendered for the one who discovers the missing link!

Where is the 3rd one.

There are 4 kinds of people in the world.

1. People who make things happen

2. People who watch what happens

3. People who wonder what happened

Freedom is measured in teaspoons.

Just because you have not seen the limitations, does not mean that they do not exist.

well Of course. but what compares to being physically free to do as you please?

The US and Canada have the most freedom and possibility for advancement in the world.

That does not change that fact that the exponentially compounding laws are not a huge menace to our society. When you go to prison for smoking one weed over another, you know there is something limiting your freedoms.

Why can't I put it into such simple terms? I struggle to find the words. Language usage is my weakest subject. When I use read a lot, I could speak and write more eloquently. I just don't read much anymore.

If your last name is Ali, you`re free to wire $60 to your mother. That does`nt mean that the government does`nt have you on a list doing that though.
You were still free to do it. They just know about it.

free ... it`s a relative term

People like you are the reason why people like Saddam come into power.
And what exactly is it that you are not free to do? You can say what you want, practice the religion you want, you can buy pretty much what you want, and you can sit behind that computer screen and make jackass comments if you want.

My apologies then to you. You sound like an intelligent man, but sometimes I am buffled by your opinions. I get the sense you lived in quite a few countries, and there is a certain anti-americanism in your posts. I am an immigrant, I previously lived in 3 countries in the Eastern Europe, and in comparison to the life there, United States is a utopia. It gave me a lot of opportunities, and let my parents live a better life. I am very thankful to this country.

Alright, what are you not free to do?

My point was that I live in the most free country in the world, and I'm thankful that I was born into such a society.

2Thick said:

I am a US citizen. I lived there for over a decade and I own property there.

Bro, you're originally from Ireland, right? The flag under your avatar is kind of a giveaway. :)

Some have freedom and others do not. Some can do anything and others can not.

I frequently wonder why some people have such tight restrictions imposed on their behavior by others. I must have a sign that says "demand perfection from this guy or punish severely."

So I hang on the freakin internet where nobody can truly reprimand me since this is all pretty much nonsense.

I am actually closer to being German than Irish, but I feel a connection to ireland that I cannot explain.

Are you from Germany then? Sorry for sounding so inquisitive, but I thought you were Irish.

Have you been to Ireland?

I have lived in about 6 countries and most of them have been in Europe.

I may seem a little critical of the US but it is only because I love the country so much. Seeing it being torn down from the inside by politicians and elitists for pure profit makes me sick.

The US used to stand for freedom, tolerance and democracy. Now it has turned into a tool for neo-cons to take over the world (by causing wars and chaos). Peace is bad for neo-cons, but it is good for the rest of us.

I understand your point of view and it is absolutely valid considering your experiences. The difference between you and I is that I have been negatively affected by those in the US that do not care about anyone but the elitists (i.e. Bush family). They are willing to destroy the US in order to garner more power. In chaos they will find riches and power that would be impossible in a free society.

1866-JFK assassination

 Bullshit. My entire family was on a reservation during that time and many years before. I grew up on the same reservation. Big difference between now and then. Don't tell me about past freedoms.

Damn bro, you have a certain way with words. It's always nice to read your posts.

I have not spent any time there yet, but I will be relatively soon.

I have lived in Germany but I a not German.

That's cool, bro.

Were you with the military when you lived in Germany?

I think he meant freedom for white people.

The US track record with native peoples is atrocious. That is definitely one reason why Canada has more freedoms for all of its citizens.

1866 is the date when slavery became illegal. At least you were not slaves on the reservation; although the reality of the reservation was not that much better.

I am speaking for most Americans, not just natives.

No, I moved there for other reasons. I have never been a huge fan of the military lifestyle. I question authority a bit too much.

Cool. How did you like it there? I hear Germany is a beautiful country.

Germany is one of the best countries in the world. The people are hard working, honest and intelligent. The landscapes of Bavaria (where I lived) are beyond literal description. It is a country that will always have a place in my heart.

2Thick said:

Hmmmm... not after 1866. Not officially anyway.

You need to relax with the insults. It degrades you.

Obviously, you're not the most intelligent of folks out there so I'll stop degrading myself if it insults you.

Back to the original post...Do you think that you're really free?

My immediate family was sent off to schools to become "white".

My immediate family was not allowed to go to school.

My immediate family was not allowed to go to church.

I'm free to do the things they weren't allowed to...even after 1866.

So, yes, I am free.

pwr_machine said:

Quite the freest aren't they? And I guess freedom isn't for everyone.

The Founding Fathers did not think that freedom was for everyone. They believed in freedom and political rights for northwestern Europeans only.

Sounds really nice! How's the nightlife in Bavaria?

A very poignant observation. I concur.

Will you at least take a grammar class at USM before trying to insult me again? I do not know if you can fit it in between your PhD classes but it could not hurt.

So, yes, I am free.

I know a little about Native American history but this is not at the root of this discussion. It is similar to the history of the Aboriginals in Australia. It is awful but it does not change the fact that most people had more freedoms before JFK was assassinated.

I was not a huge party animal when I lived there, but it is generally great in Munich but not that great in the rest of that conservative province.

Thanks for the info, bro.

I hear that there are many Turks in Germany. Is that true?

pwr_machine said:

Well done on your research. I do attend USM, and I noticed you're a liberal. Are you gay?

Nope, not gay. I would say I am more of a Libertarian with socialistic tendencies.

Most people would not notice but I can pretty much find out what I want about people. The good thing is that I am not a bastard, so I will not use info against people.

Corky Thatcher said:

Yes, they are the largest immigrant group there. They tend to stick to themselves and create their own communities with the German one. That has caused some problems with the German government and populace. This is a general trend even though many Turks adapt very smoothly.

casavant will kill you all. His name means "Annihilation" in the ancient slavic language.

No shit? How you do that? I mean, I know it's possible to find out lots of stuff if you have the know-how. That's a big "if", however.

If you have the time, find out what you can about me and PM me the info. Not that I'm doubting you, but I am curious. Seriously.

I have one thing to say b4 I go play hoops with a pulled hamstring.

How long did you live there?

Well, it is not very hard when you post your picture. Then I have the IP addy. Then I know what city you live in and that you work at a club. Using clues from all of your posts will eventually give away your true identity.

I cannot believe that you live in that state. You so did not fit that profile.

:D Arkansas? It's amazing what growing up in a family that encourages dialogue can do for a person. I've posted up a lot about living in AR though- you've never seen me mention it?

I never paid attention, I guess. Although Arkansas was a beautiful state to drive through.

It's definitely nice here in the NW corner. The Ozarks are pretty cool. I was out on the river at 4am this morning fishing with a friend who also bounces Sat. nights. Big boulders all along the stream channel, sweet smell of sycamore in the air...definitely a nice place.

I went through a nice college town called Fayetteville. It seems that there are a lot oh hotties there. Even some Texas honeys.

Good answer.

So is it true that weed is almost legal in most parts of Canada?

All parts of Canada. It has been decriminalized. Anyone carrying under 15g will only be issued a ticket for between 100$-500$.

Nice. :p

True. For all practical purposes as far as finding me is concerned. Can you find my full name? I don't know if that's ever been posted up on here. If you can, don't. :)
