I've read several articles and messages from various fitness boards stating that even when a woman lifts heavy weights, she can never get bulky, UNLESS if she takes steroids.

Is this true?

So does this mean I'm lifting and eating to get my legs bigger for nothing? :worried:

I think I'm starting to believe in this because my legs do get bigger when I gain weight BUT right when I start cutting, my legs lose all the size, except it does look harder, but NOT bigger. :worried:

Yes a woman can get bigger, but she is not going to bulk up like a man can. You can and will gain size with the proper diet and weight lifting routine.

I've seen chicks way bulkier than guys

"Just" Squat and eat big

Build would proalby hav alot to do with it as well. Just as their are small boned women, there are smalled bone men and I'm sure a larger boned fmeale mite possibly be able to get as big as a small bone male

Women will grow twice as slow as guys will, if not three times slower.

if you're comparing a small boned woman vs. small boned man, the small boned woman will grow 2x(or 3x) slower than the small boned man?

Everyone has different builds and a different response to weight training. Can women get bulky, sure it can happen (some women start bulky, just look around you). Will a normal woman who is small boned and mostly ectomorphic - if possible she'd have to respond very strongly to weight training and even then it would take quite a while and quite a bit of effort. In all cases it would be a lot easier for an identically defined (this is the rub) male.

You can't really make super broad generalizations when there is so much varriance in the populations.

if your legs are losing muscular size is because you aint training right. Forget about supersets and high reps for losing fat, you should train heavy, and im not talking bodybuilder heavy.

men have 6 times more muscle fibers then women and alot more testosterone obviously. girls can never get as big as guys, there are some freaks though

I HAVE been training heavy even when cutting... but what I'll try to do next time is stick with the same workout routine as when I was bulking, so I don't have to drop the weights...
