Do you talk with an accent?

Do you have a noticeable accent and if so does it score you any points with the ladies?

I really don’t like my regional accent...I think it sounds thick and stupid although some girls do seem to like it. My parents spent a small fortune on elocution lessons to no avail.

My accent is the same as the barman’s on this clip - alan partridge - geordie's monkey story.mpg

Nope. No accent at all here.

It's everybody else that sounds weird.
 
the n. e. tennessee accent sounds quite pleasing to my ears......love hearing ya'll talk when i am up there.

well people think i have one form the States but i dont
 
got my mass accent going on where we forget the letter r...so car is really caaaaa.....but southern accents are nice!!!!!!!
 
got family in TX...remember when i was a kid and they came up for a visit i laughed for days.....they say things like down yonder and they called a trunk of a car a turtle shell....omg it was funny....
 
I have a lovely New Yawk accent (the men love it). Where we say things like tawk, wawk, and sawsage. It isn't as heavy as it use to be. It comes out more when I'm with my family or when I get really comfortable around someone.
 
aussies think i sound english, probably becaue of my vocab
tourists occasionally think i sound american (because i roll my r's now and again, which is a hangover from hanging out with a bunch of yanks when i was in greece) but yeh, mainly i sound like an australian...nothing like that idiot crocodile hunter though

although i do that thing where i take on the accent of the person im talking to, which can be taken badly when im talking to some asian guy, im sure they think im teasing them

what kind of accent does your father have?

i wa watching a documentary on anna kournikova (sp?) and when she was younger, maybe 13-16 yrs old, she had a thick accent. Nowadays, she sounds like an american. weird. her accent is almost gone.

An "East Coastah" accent.

Though i wish i had a British Accent. Women go APESHIT over any guy with a british accent. It sound so damn sexy .. and automatically people think you're classy. Works wonders in the business world too.

I'm afraid if i tried to replicate it - i'd come off sounding like Austin Powers or something. :)

If I sounded confident I was ovecompensating, 'cause my mind went completely blank when the recorder came on, and I forgot all my talking points. I think I actually used the word "thingy".
 
I have the bland western accent, out here we just tend to over-enunciate our words.

Scots, i like your voice. Its smooth and calming. I could not detect a particular accent there. More like midwest. Actually, you kinds sound like TheProject who also has a pleasant voice. Too bad he got banded
 
I am a southern gentleman, so yes I have an accent. I've talked to Starfish, PHATchik, velvett, and rick, they can tell you what I sound like. :artist:

I don't know if I'm suthern or redneck. I'd have to say a little more the former than the latter IMO. BUT, there's a definite accent. My GF lives in the midwest and every time I go up there it never fails, there is someone who can't understand a word I say. Either way, I talk slow. My lady says she could fall asleep waitin' on me to finish a sentence :D

I have been accused of being from Australia before. Don't know WTF that's all about. When they ask, I just smile and say 'Yep'.

I get that a lot that people like my voice. Maybe that's why dogs and kids like me so much. Yeah we don't really have much of an accent out here, Project had a little one when I hung out with him but not much. Now especially if I have been drinking I'll pick up the accent of whomever I am talking to, and that can get pretty comical.

I have a slight Southern accent, which is appropriate since I live in the South :) It's not a twangy Hee Haw Daisy Duke accent, (I love Southern women), it's more of a border state Cracker type, which is the opposite of a Yankeeslicker from the flatlands. Everyone has an accent to some degree. I talked to some Canadian girls last time I was in Mexico and they went on and on about my Southern accent. I told them that they also had an accent, and they denied it. I guess they think that they alone know how to speak, and everyone else has a regional speech deficiency. :argue:

Just a Minnesootah accent.

Actually when I call my vendors in other states I conciously make an effort not to say Minnesota that way.

Whenever I call Frisky I have to glance at the phone to make sure I didn't dial one of those 900 numbers.
 
I am not sure what my accent is but only one person on EF has heard it. I should ask him what it sounds like.
