the only way to know if you carry the virus is to have a antibody test, even thats not 100% accurate because some people dont produce the antibodies and are still carriers.

many people never get sores, its estimated that over 80% of the population is anti-body positive for one of the HSV strains. Actual carrier rates may be higher.

as a note derivatives of the HSV virus are being used as vectors for a number of high level treatments in development, including gene therapy.

if one in four have it, i wanna see some honesty...
From www.herpes.com
Oral herpes, an infection caused by the herpes simplex virus, is estimated to be present in 50 to 80 percent of the American adult population. 20 percent, over 50 million people, are infected with genital herpes, also caused by the herpes simplex virus, and the majority of these cases may be unaware they even have it. Studies show that more than 500,000 Americans are diagnosed with genital herpes each year, and the largest increase is occurring in young teens.

8 out of 10 have oral herpes
1 in 5 have genital

Chicken pox is a herpes virus.
Mononucleosis is a herpes virus.
Shingles is also a herpes virus.

I had encephalitis last year and had to get comprehensive workups from an epidemiologist, including multiple type specific herpes tests, and to my amazement I dont have either HSV1 or HSV2.

Here's some pleasant news too, the leading cause of encephalitis in the U.S. is our pal herpes. Yah.

im in the military medical field and ill say that the amount of people i see in the clinic when we arent deployed would be more like 8 of 10 have it.

i am immune. truthfully, i am. i had unprotected sex for a couple years with someone who had herpes. That was many years ago, and i have never once had a symptom. I normally have a remarkable immune system for such things (with the exception of food poisoning, i have not been sick in 5 years.) so i was not surprised.

Also, i had one of the tests that does not require an outbreak done, they only had the tests in about a dozen places in the us at the time, and they supposedly have a 95%+ accuracy, and that came out negative, too...

I think I am immune as well. I had a GF for 8 years that would get cold sores on her lip and would try to kiss me to make me get one, I never had a cold sore in my life. Either that, or my symptoms are so minor that I don't notice them.

Everyone's immune system can deal with any virus if it is given the means to do so... (This means getting your blood in an alkaline state and eliminating crap like simple sugars and toxic chemicals added to our food supply such as asparatame, chlorine, and MSG) Don't EVER believe the hype from pharmacutical companies that say these viruses are always "with you for life". Total rubbish.

Think about this: How many times have you had a cold in your life? Surely everytime you get a new cold it is not the same "old" cold virus returning that is still dormant in your system but a new strain. Have you ever had a wart on your hand or foot when you were a kid that NEVER returned? Your telling me this HPV virus is "still dormant"?? Come on.

Anyone who has the exact same re-occuring virus needs to clean up their body as much as possible from all toxins and let their immune system do its job. Yes, some are more stubborn than others (such as herpes viruses) and may require additional assistance in the form of supplements but they are not impossible for your immune system to find and destroy. :)

Had a scare six months ago. I was dating this chick for a couple weeks and she always wanted to give me bj's but not sex. Didn't think much of it untill after she finally gave it up and proceded to tell me right afterwards she had herpes. Needless to say I broke up with her on the spot (more for starting the relationship with serious dishonesty) and went into panic mode. Reasearched my ass off and found out that even though I wore a condom I could have still gotten in from skin contact on not covered areas. Anyway never got any symptoms and after six weeks got my blood test. Everythings good to go, but I feel like i dodged a bullet. I'm recently divorced and I hate having to deal with this shit again.
