He got out last thursday night and we haven't seen him since. I'm so devastated by this
he's never been outside before

I fed a stray cat for several years. That cat use to sit on my roof each night until I brought the dogs in, then she'd go in the dog run and eat the left over dog food. I started buying Target cat food and feeding her on my porch. The neighbors dog ended up killing her, so I tried to kill the neighbors dog with poisoned meatballs as revenge.

Not really, It was some sort of pit bull mutt, and San Diego is crawling with fake homies who walk untrained pit bulls everywhere, so I don't feel bad about it at all.
My youngest kid was attacked by a pitbull when he was barely over a year old, and my mom was bitten trying to protect him, so I get a little bit of satisfaction out of the poisoning.

I have a bengal cat. Best pet I've had. Kills any mice, spiders, or anything smaller than it that trespasses in the house.

Not to my knowledge, though I didn't try to conceal it too much. I also poisoned their rooster.

cat's can survive longer too
I provide them water through a faucet
put out a big bowl of dry food
and a a fresh can of the wet food before I leave
they can survive just fine until I make bond

The rooster was kept in a pen, next to my gate and it woke me up at 4 am every morning.
The rooster would not take the bait, but I'm pretty sure they ended up eating the rooster on Xmas.
Strychnine mixes up in ground beef nicely.
Now they have several birds that coo all night.
