Sure this would probably never happen since most favor love over species preservation but if someone's genetic code were available to view, would that influence your decision on whether to become committed enough to that person to reproduce?

What if you found that a person's genetic code was filled with possible genetic defects?

I could definitely see some extremist government sterlizing all people who carry such deformities.

Hell, it may be unethical and violate most human rights laws but it would get rid of all the major health hazards. If new ones pop up, sterlize them

I was very aware of the genetic mix between me and the women I had children with. I didn't plot it like a scientist, but I knew about their family longevity, coloring, intelligence and health. I think we all do this to some extent in the selection process.

I was never worried about such things until I became more interested in biology. I would have probably laughed at someone if they would have asked me such a thing when I was 19. Being young and dumb definitely has it's downsides.

There is research being done as to how our scent contains phermones about our genetic code. Basically there are very primative smells that the oldest parts of our brains can process. The theory is we're comparing differences in our immune system and choosing a mate who's makeup differs the most from us.

So we may be making genetic choices already!
