Do Tanning Pills Work?

havoc

Shaolin Ninja
I try to get as much sun as I can, but do to my new schedule and lack of time I can't seem to fit any time in the sun in, and if I do its maybe once or twice a week.
I did a search on the net about "tanning pills" and read how they increase melanin, do these pills work? Thanks!

You are going to end up looking like a jacked up Ompa Loompa.

LOL!!!

Well if the pills release melanine then you have to just deal with the level that it releases. The more exposure to the sun, the more melanine your body releases as a protective layer for your skin.

But your metabolism being as fucking feaky fast as a torqued up porsche you would probably get tanned for about 2 hours and then got Micheal Jackson white all over again.

Oxorsalen works like a charm but is pretty dangerous. I'm fairly sure it's hepatoxic and greatly increases the risk of skin cancer. It fucks up your eyes somehow too.

For an OTC tanning supplement buy L-Tyrosine. It's cheap and very effective. I take 1-2g an hour before I lay out and I don't burn and get dark as.....i dont know...but i get dark. It increases melanin, like you said. I hear glutamine does as well but I haven't searched for many abstracts on that.

Here you go Chauncy-

Effect of increased intracellular melanin concentration on survival of human melanoma cells exposed to different wavelengths of UV radiation.

Kowalczuk C, Priestner M, Baller C, Pearson A, Cridland N, Saunders R, Wakamatsu K, Ito S.

National Radiological Protection Board, Chilton, Didcot OX11 ORQ, UK. [email protected]

PURPOSE: To investigate the effect of intracellular melanin content on cell survival of G361 human melanoma cells following exposure to UV radiation. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Cells were cultured in medium containing elevated concentrations of L tyrosine phosphate and L glutamine to increase their melanin content. yada yada yada.............

havoc call a nigga!!!!!!!!!!!!

O, and about the tanning shit, I don't that those pills work that well, unless you want to look like Jay Cutler did for the Mr. O, his skin looked like it had been sent through a leather factory. You should just go surfing one weekend, and you will be tanned for the rest of the year.

hey punk why dont you stop playing with your candles for a weekend and go surfing with us. sorry , i said us. i cant go. i just had my ACL reconstructed. and the pills with increase your chances of skin desease. think about what a tan actually is. and think about what the pill must be trying to do.

Good points, but call me a punk again and I'll stick those crutches straight up your dick ridden boner over and javelin toss you down a flight of stairs.

Heard what they did in regards to your surgery, you need to follow up on that in respects to a lawyer and such. peace, get well

LOL
I brought my Jan Tana to work, I think I 'm just going to try it on my ears.

the oxylormaphanifrofuckingwhatevertheyare ones are bad b/c they increase the melancytes which are what produce the melanin.
the problem is that when newly created melancytes show up, they are far more succesptible to uva radiation - which means that they are more likely to hit by that shit and mutate and turn into a little cancer generator (cancer being an uncontrolled cell that is replicating in a manner that doesn't do what its original intent was or even worse it is doing negative things - as in attacking other cells).

so while yes, they do work like a motherfucker, they have their extreme downsides and that is why it is very hard to get a script for them.

also - it acts on all cells, it is not seletive, so it also gets into the corenal tissue, which when exposed to uva radiation... I think it is protein degredation or something - but the end result is you get cataracts and can't see unless you get a cornea repleacement or removal... I hear those are unpleasant.

This post has summed up the fact that I will not use them. peace

also - wodin - you take tryptophan, which lowers the natural levels of L-Tyrosine - so you might want to take those together or some shit.
then again, if I recall your ethnic background, you don't have to worry so much about the pale skin.
fat bastard.

I came to the same conclusion myself - I wanted to be less blindingly white, but after seeing the negatives I decided to not use this stuff.
on the other hand - they suggest you wear those total wrap around sunglasses while taking this stuff (all the time) - so that would be cool to try to explain at work... old people glasses are always cool indoors or out.

that pic of havoc at age like 13 where he is bigger than most all else on the board shows him to be pretty tan - so quit your whining you gentic freak of nature.

I can walk outside for two hours and be tanned for a month.

I am not fat. I am big boned. LOL!!!

I hate you.

I have indian in my heritage on two sides (cherokee, so I get taken over easily and love that alcohol), yet the norwegian and irish fuckers must outweigh them in genetic terms... I walk into the light and burst into flames.

Honestly, I was dating a manager of a tanning salon, she let me go in the big bed every day, I have never matched that skin tone since then . peace

well, in the long run it is better for your health not to do that anyway.
tans look good, and you need some sun for the vitamin D release, but in the long run, it just fucks up your skin and makes for wrinkles as you age and shit.

I personally wouldn't mind some wrinkles so that I don't look like I'm 12.

Hey Wodin, try this on your Bambino's...

My Daughter LOVED Carrots when she was a baby and we gave her like 2-3 jars a day of Strained Baby food Carrots..

After about a week or 2 of intense carrot eating, her Nose started to turn a bit Orange.

Needless to say we cut way back on the Strained Carrot intake...

trioxsalen works very well.
Trisoralen is another name for it
