"Do Not Stop Taking Xanax Abruptly"

I did and talk about a meltdown. I don't know for sure if I had the worst damn panic attack of my life while watching a movie, because I didn't take my dose. Luckily I had some pills left so I took one and I feel a lot better.

"Xanax must be reduced gradually under the doctor's supervision." Somebody should tell my stupid ass doctor about this or maybe I should just print out the page and give it to him but, he probably won't read it.

Good news though, my headache feels a little better or maybe I'm just getting over the shock to my system and my brain is concentrating on something else.

This sound stupid but afterwards, I did start laughing at myself. Of course I won't be laughing if it happens again.

if you want to stop taking them and you are truly addicted, you should switch to valium as it has a longer half life but is not as strong... it will fool the body...or just taper down either way really.

I'm not addicted to them. I skipped a dose on purpose because I don't like taking them but according to link I provided it states, "Withdrawal reactions may occur when dosage reduction occurs for any reason, including forgetting to take a dose. Xanax must be reduced gradually under the doctor's supervision." My doctor did not mention anything about gradually reducing it but then again he isn't a psychiatrist. I thought I could just stop taking it whenever I want like the Percocets I have, but I started spazzing out watching a movie. So, I thought to myself, maybe I should take my Xanax and I did some research on it, because on the printout about the Xanax I got from the pharmacy with the Xanax it doesn't mention most of the information I got from the website.

Saint, you should be my doctor instead, looks like you might know more than my doctor.

what is your prescribed dose and how long you been on them?

Benzos like Xanax & Valium typically have bad withdrawal if you just stop taking them cold turkey. In fact, in someone truly addicted to Benzodiazepines, the WD can be worse than someone addicted to opiates.

If you're on the 1mg Xanax footballs, tell your doc to taper the dosage down to .5mg, then .25mg. He's a professional, he should know better than to let you just run out of a prescription and not help you get off them.

.5 mg twice a day for about 3 weeks

that's a sane amount... the symptoms you experienced were prolly phyiscal because your body was used to the xanax... my prescribed amount was 4mg per day which is a lot but then my mother was passing away and i have this wierd tolerance to benzo's that i have always had.... anyhoo you can taper down from that amount fairly easily or talk to your doc about switching to valium which is less potent but has a longer half life.

i'll try but he probably won't listen so maybe i should see a psychiatrist about it. i'm also a very jittery person so i think that is making it worse.

sorry to read about your mother passing away.

he will... especially if you tell him the pills may not be the answer and that not taking it fucked with you... on the downside that may mean no more peach pills for you... on the upside no physical dependancy... i have prolly taken more alprazolam than anyone on here.... i am not happy with why i know these things but i am happy that i can help other people.

How does it feel when you take the pills? I feel uncomfortable and very uneasy. I also feel the same way getting drunk and smoking a joint and taking percocets. I was taking xanax, naproxen aka (naprosyn), and fioricet all at the same time and I got no joy out it.

It's probably very rare, but you can die from abrubtly stopping benzodiaprenes if you've been on them a while. You can have a seizure which can result in death.

it feels like a light alcholic buzz gone wrong. my body fights it. it feels a little relaxing but not in a good way, that's the strange part. i definitely don't get talkative, in fact i sort of shut down.
