OK, so I'm not the only one who thinks it was rude. He told me she is new to town and thought it would be fun for me to meet her. This is after he's told me several times he couldn't wait to get together to flirt with me. wtf? I guess he changed his mind in a matter of 5 hours between confirming plans to the surprise dinner guest. He is a huge flirt too so I should have expected it.

almost the same thing has happened to me before.....
i was asked out to see a movie after going out with this chick before, SHE arranges time etc, i turn up and see this guy here, she turns to me and says coyly 'is everything ok?'
as it turns out this guy had NO idea i was gonna be there, had no idea we were going to see a film and actuaklly thought we were on our way back and she basically DRAGGED him along (he didnt wanna be a third wheel).....
yet she seemed to wanna get rid of him after and then started flirting openly with me (first thing she did when he left was let her hair down and undo the first 2 buttons on her blouse.....lol)....and i reciprocated
BUT....after that i WAS SO wound up i just decided that she can go to hell. then she got kicked out of uni, and while i was tempted to make a move on her i decided not to as she was in a worrying situation and she needed a friend not someone trying to insert his penis between her legs....so thats all i was

Did she unbutton her blouse in front of you or did she run to the bathroom and then come back out with her blouse unbuttoned? I never thought guys noticed stuff like that. How did she get kicked out?
