It doesnt seem so, I play punk for my dog all the time, he doesnt seem to care

but one time I played some Dr. Dre and he seemed to bob his head to the bass lines, but maybe I was just really messed up

Animals and music

I think you will find that animals are very much like people - they have their likes and dislikes. Some songs and music they will like and some not. Also, a steady "diet" of the same thing will drive anyone - or anything - mad. You or I could not listen to the same things all the time day after day and I suspect animals are no different. But I will say that I know of animals needing to hear "something" at least for a time when left alone - I once was asked to take care of my friends dog and cat while they went to North Carolina transporting Horses and their dog - a Golden Retriever - seemed very lonely until I turned the radio on for it and on a station that had variety - seemed to help out a lot. Golden Retrievers are quite something and very close in my mind to being "Human" themselves" (at least as far as understanding and "knowing", etc.)... But all this probably depends too on whether or not the "owners" are close to their animals and if there is a close association with each. I know of animals that are basically "loners" and are basically by themselves most of the time. Probably all things need some kind of association with something else. Music I believe is appreciated by animals - at least some of it... Take Care, John H.

I love you

I knew a parrot once who really got off on George Michael's "Father Figure." He'd bob up and down and yell "Papa!"

And who was that chick who did a medley of "Free Bird/Baby I Love Your Way"? (I think he picked up on the word "bird" in that one.)

Dog's do like music. I had a dobe that loved female opera. My black Lab likes Country? He can be freaking out in the car, and will chill if I put country on! It's funny because my lab is somewhat of a hillrod, and my dobe had a James Bond personality.

Man, I feel sorry for Father Poopy sometimes. Gotta be rough, him being the smartest critter in the household and all.

It would appear that my daughter believes that our dogs like Hillary Duff, and B2K........

I have assured her they in fact do not, and would much prefer to listen to pre-1993 GNR or perhaps some Deftones.........

But she insists on making them dance/rock out to top 40 pop.

Do monkeys like to get wasted?

Do dogs like to get high?

Do cats like to get lit up?

All questions that are best left for future generations.

My cats don't mind recorded music if I'm playing LPs, but the run from the room if I play a CD.

My tomcat goes ballistic if I try to play my baroque recorder, especially the high notes. Or maybe he's just a critic, 'cause I stink at it.

Studies have shown (im serious) that cows produce more milk when they are exposed to classical music. Also they prefer Bach over Mozart

That one's actually true. There are some spider monkeys that wait for this one type of fruit to ripen and then ferment, and they get smashed. I forget the conversion, or how in the hell they even figured it out, but it was something like *** pieces of fruit = *** shots of Jack.

They even showed them afterwards, all stumbling around, and then getting the drunken munchies.
