Diuretics over water depletion

Anyone use diuretics over doing a water depletion? (where you drink a lot of water and then don't drink nearly as much). I'd much rather just take a pill if it will work just as good as drinking a ton of water and then hardly none....

Anyone have experience with this when it comes to competitions or photo shoots.

1-You can't control it ,so you may come in very dry and flat
2- They are dangerous at this stage.
