So you disagree with the statement I quoted (not my words) in the first post?

" Everyone watching knew this was a chance for the Academy to take a stand on what is arguably one of the most controversial issues of our time. "

In a perfect world, one would be able to think it didn't win because it wasn't the best movie. But people out there, like yourself, must keep perpetuating the issue even further when you won't be able to do much about it.

No you just used it as fodder to try to support your own inadequate understanding that the movien nominations and choices were based on, you know... movies and the art behind them. Not a political statement. Only people who lack a confidence in their true beliefs have to turn to other things like this in order to prove a nonexisting point of no consequence.

Well, some insecure straight males feel that way. They are worried that they might get an erection during the movie. Then having to explain to their wife why they want her to wear a cowboy hat when they make love after the movie. ;)

I happened to just watch Crash this weekend (well it was on while I was doing other stuff) and while it had OK bits and pieces, it was NOT a good movie, or even a GREAT one.

Longhorn, I don't really see what your point is because it's obvious that The Academy has some sort of agenda that has very little to do with how good a movie actually is, and it probably has very little to do with the subject matter covered in the said movies. It's probably rampant politics, the nature of which you nor I will ever know, and I am fine with that.

I tell you what, I got a kick out of "snubbing" the Oscars entirely on Sunday night. That was probably the best thing to come out of this: Lumberg not having to watch the Oscars. And God Bless America for that!
