what about single mothers who have to raise the kids on their own because their bastard father walked away.

Long ago, men had to make the money and raise the family. But with equal rights and feminist movements, women have taken a huge role in society and have worked just as hard as men to put bread on the table. Sure we are in a patriotical society, but women work just as hard as men, and on top of that, have to go through all of the above.

That's admirable and worthy of respect.
