Direct TV vs. Digital Cable

I'd like the opinions of people who've had both satellite and digital cable. I'm moving into a new house come February. I'm trying to decide if i'm better off going with a dish or cable.

The NFL package on direct TV is a huge draw for me, but i'm curious from a cost, performance, convenience standpoint, if being able to watch a few months worth of football games is worth any other problems I may be inviting.

I think the hype about the dish not coming in when you throw some fake snow on it is just that - hype. if I could afford anything other than basic cable I would get the direct tv because it is probably way better with the channel selections for the cost.

Negatives:
Cable = Cost / Programming limits by vendor
Sat = Poor performance is bad weather

Positives:
Cable = More Reliable generally
Cable = No dish on your house
Sat = More Programming Choices

I live in a very snowy part of Canada....and have yet to have problems with dish in snowfall! If your dish has been aimed professionally (properly) and you are tuned into the best possible transponder, you're not going to get any problems when the weather gets intense.

I second that......Only diring a heavy thunderstorm the sat. will go out for a little while. Cable can go out for hours, while a sat. will only be out for a little while.

Never had digital cable but I love satelite. You can`t do like yesteryear and split up all the cables in your house for a TV in every room. You still need a "Box" for every TV with cable as well as Sat.

Maybe if you get cable high speed internet you may decide with the cable. There is also Sat internet btw.

I na perfect world I would go with SAT.

I've got both. Sat is far and away better. NFL Sunday ticket, the picture quality is 10x better, and the signal is easier to steal, So I'm told.

I just switched from cable to dish. The cable bastards cancelled my NBA league pass 3 weeks into the season after they had already charged me for it. They suddenly decided that it wasn't available in my area
