Dipping Belt?

Is it necessary for me to buy one of these like the Grizzly Leather Dipping Belt
or have any of ya'll made your own by just using a regular weight belt and chain? Just curious....

I've been using a regular belt and a chain. Works pretty good, as long as the belt is thick and strong enough to handle it.

It just depends on how much you dip, personally I love it and it's nice having the pre fabbed belt with chain and t on the end.. I think it's worth it

I now use a reg belt with a chain... my gym has a couple really good belts, but no dip belts, so I went an bought a big ol chain... I use it for dips and pull-ups works great!! I'll grab a belt when I get state side again... but just a reg belt an I'll keep my chain!! I never use a belt for any other lifts (deads squats etc) I don't believe in them!! but when it comes to dips and pull-ups it's a necessity!!

HOME DEPOT... buy a think chain and lock... no need for those belts..

^^^ depending on how much weight, you may wanna still go with a belt.... only a chain around your waist with heavy weight will get to be uncomfortable rather quick, just use a normal belt with a chain!!

exactly, they are not very good for you. they prevent blood flow and compress everything together inside your body and if you cant handle the weight without the belt than you shouldn't be lifting it. they are only good when doing 1RM maxes.

personally I don't eve use them on my maxes... it feels like it changes the way my body is accustemed to lifting, like the way my diaphragm constricts, to the way I breathe, to which muscles are burdening the weight!! so even on my maxes I just feel like if I throw on a belt it changes too much!!
