What is a good, all-purpose digital camera to buy? I saw something on TV last night where some Mircosoft program was rated #1 and they recommended a Minulta Camera to use with the software program. I'm a novice when it comes to this stuff. Any suggestions? There are so many options I don't know where to begin.

Basically, I'm looking for a digital camera that takes good high resolution pics and software program that allows me to edits the pics and email them.

JA: Canon PoweShot series cameras seem to be the best ones for non-professional users, based on ease of use and the massive amount of positive feedback.

HM: some can. Most can't.

I just bought the kodakdx4530 5 megapixil, so easy to use. I also got the printer dock. it takes great pics.

first pic I took with it... my bike

Canon PowerShot S45
Its a really good camera IMO, it comes with 32 megabit memory, 4 megapixel resolution and a 3 x zoom. It can also store about 3 min of video playback at 15 FPS. Its really simple to transfer images from camera to computer too. I bought it for ~$350, tax included.

I paid 299.00 camera
199.00 printer dock
60.00 for a 256mb chip
of course you could get a regular dock for about 80.00 and if you shop online you could get all of it cheaper, I just wanted now so a paid for it.

If you wanna spend a lot with a lot of features, go with a Canon PowerShot S50...personally, I don't see a need for more than 3 megapixels, so I would go with the Canon PowerShot SD100. Check out the following sites for many reviews, I love canons (though right now my main camera is the Sony CyberShot DSC-U20 for portability)

Thanks for the feedback guys but I'm more confused now than when I started the thread. So is the general consensus to get the Canon?
