Why the hell are you so afraid of carbs, especially on a maintenance diet?

carbs are not good for you and sugar is the same way-cereal is a bad choice-eggs and sausages are very good

Are you stupid?

lmao

seriously though buddy, you should really take a minute to learn someone's goals/diet preference before you spam their post with your cult-ish views....

THE PREMISE OF KEEPING OFF FAT IS YOU MUST EAT FAT AND VERY FEW CARBS-I'VE SPOKEN TO AUTHORS OF BOOKS AND THEY HAVE TOLD ME THIS

Are you stupid?

Phemomena-

This guy opens his mouth and says that the only way to loose fat is to keep carbs below 20g per day. I don't care about his "diet preference," what he is posting is a complete lie. What do you think?

i personally am in agreement with you... the diet is a legitimate one, but not one that i would follow for a number of reasons that i don't really feel are necessary to explain other than the fact that i think its a stupid diet that is not maintainable in the long run...

my biggest problem with this guy is that he made a comment on a post that was written by a girl recovering from bulemia... he told her that her calorie intake was too high!!!??@!?

how the hell are you going to tell that to someone who is recovering from an eating disorder (and her calories were about 1800 to boot, that's far from high, i would say it was low judging by her activity)... that was just absolutely wrong!... i thought his spam (not even a valid post) were annoying before then, now i'm just plain disgusted by them

here's the thread in case you're interested in checking it out...

Eating very few carbs (no more than 20g/day ever according to you) is not the only way to loose fat, or to keep fat off. I don't know which authors you were speaking to, or what books they have written, but I think everyone on elite would agree that you are a mindless sheep that follows false advice, then tries to post this information as fact trying to sound knowledgeable to a bunch of guys on the net.

Yes, the keto diet is a legit diet. I'm just pointing out the fact that he makes no mention of this diet, and starts spouting off that the only way to loose fat is to stay under 20g carbs per day. When I read what I just wrote, it sounds like I'm being argumentive towards you, I'm not. I just didn't know a better way to write it. I'm off to check out that thread right now.

nope, didn't think that at all... i was just making the point that if he wants to splurt out his rubbish to the keto-ers out there, let him, just keep that nonsence out of posts where it doesn't belong... yes, i agree it is NOT the only way to loose fat, i've lost 40lbs of fat on a sensible diet that doesn't restrict any major food componet (f/p or c)... i'm at 110lbs and looking great... i believe that there is a time and a place for carb depletion and that's pre-contest... i need my carbs for energy (and carbs are the fuel of the brain, which would explain a LOT :) )

I can't believe that he would post that, like you said, to someone recovering from an eating disorder. That was just plain wrong.

You're correct, Keto's do have their place though I don't see myself ever utilizing it. It's amazing how many lives that I've seen screwed up over "The Atkins Diet." I used to work at GNC, and it's amazing how much money people would spend buying his products. They would be all these seriously overweight people, who thought that eating close to 0 carbs all the time was going to cure their health. These people wouldn't exercise, they would just hear about the diet part, and jump on the bandwagon. I heard a countless number of stories about people going on the diet for about a month, as a "quick fix." They'd go back to eating what they considered a normal diet (yeah right) and gain all the weight back, plus 10 or so pounds.

Keto isn't for everyone, and personally I don't see it as a long term weight loss/maintenance diet. Like you stated, it's good for pre-contest, or a situation where you need to drop a few pounds of fat in a hurry. I just don't see it as a feasible solution for lifetime living, but I'm not going to deny that there are people who will stick to it for life, and it does work to get the weight off of you.

but of course, us toronto people are smart :)

where abouts are you?

Actually I live in Hamilton.:) I moved from Montreal a year ago to attend University.

You took the words right out of my mouth, Humanshell.

The Keto diet is very attractive to some ppl because of the initial fluid loss. I'm not saying it doesn't work, but the rebound is often terrible. I believe that staying in Ketosis(starvation really) all the time is a very unhealthy and stupid thing to do.

Do you two think that Canada would be a good place for me to visit next year? I live in Texas, am 21, and have been here my whole life. The only place I have traveled to was Mertle Beach, North Carolina, for 10 days. I'm thinking of going to Canada for about a month next year. I hear it's a beautiful country.

Canada is nice, if you're looking for scenery, visit Alberta, and British Colombia (or the east cost), if you're looking for fun, culture and a seeing a great city, come to Toronto... if you live in texas, i wouldn't suggest coming in the winter, most southerners can't stand our winters... our summers get real hot too (100+ degrees in Toronto, very humid).. i'd suggest May or Sept./Oct (fall is really pretty when the leaves change colours and all that stuff :) )

Yes, I live in Texas....but I'm one of those guys that you will find outside in shorts and a t-shirt when our weather drops to freezing. If I wear pants, I usually wear opened toe sandles. :) I love feeling cold.

ahh...but have you ever experienced -40 cold? the kind of cold that exposed skin gets frost bitten in less than 15 min cold... i HATE winter... Toronto winters aren't too bad if you stick to the city.. they clear the snow pretty quickly on the main streets... unless we get dumped on by 2 or 3 feet... then it takes a few days :)

If you want to party, go to Montreal. Bars close at 3am and sometimes 4 am, and the clubs are great. Downtown has everything you could ever want, and if you like weed, it's one of the best places to smoke(besides BC). Just for the record, I'm not a big party guy (anymore at least)

I wouldn't say it is a typical Cdn city; the people are quite rude in Mtl, and the poverty is much worse.

Btw, I'm in Mechanical Eng.
