Dextrose????

Is dextrose neccesary post workout??

or is gatorade or juices as efficient???

and how much dextrose would u take post workout???

dextrose is a great high GI carb for an insulin spike
it should only be used post workout
 
it is not necessary, but definitely one of the best choices you have. gatorade and fruit juices, or honey are good postworkout but not as good a choice as dextrose, b/c dextrose has higher gi. on how much to take, i take 75 grams postworkout with 50 grams whey.
 
Also remember that sugar is half dextrose, half fructose. Your body can only handle so much fructose in one day before the rest gets stored as fat. You don't want all that table sugar.

Dextrose is the way to go
 
sounds good i will probably get some.. its easier then always having gatorade..

u just mix it with the protein?? does it alter taste??

when i am taking creatine i take 5 grams in gatorade as i workout.....could i take dextrose with my creatine during my workouts??? if so how much dextrose..

and say i was supplementing with creatine.. would i keep the amount of dextrose the same??

like 25 grams of dextrose in my workout with creatine..
25 grams postworkout in creatine
25 grams with whey???

as to a total of 75 grams just with my whey if i wasent using creatine???

Isn't honey 1/2 fructose??

1. yes it alters taste, it makes it a bit more sugary, doesnt make it taste any worse just sweeter.
2. yes you can take the dextrose during your workouts, 75 grams would be good but why not take it postworkout?
3. yes around 75 grams dextrsoe is fine with creatine
4. do not understand the question, u mean 25 grams during workout and 50 post w/ whey, that would be fine.
 
is it necessary, no. will it make a difference i dont know, you will have more energy during your workout with the 25 g during. tell us how it goes, i have never tried it before.
 
I take 35g of Dextrose, 5g of L-Glutamine, 5g Creatine and Crystal Light (for taste) after a w/o. Then 30 minutes later I down 50g of Whey Protein. Be careful of the amount of Dextrose you take. The Insulin spike can work for you or against you. You can get great absorption of nutrients but you can also get fat!

to sum it up:

you need a quick acting supplement of both carbohydrate and protein

Carbohydrates: 0.8-1.0 g/kg of bodyweight (50/50 blend of dextrose (glucose) and maltodextrin)

Protein: 0.4-0.6 g/kg of bodyweight (hydrolyzed whey protein or a blend of this and a whey isolate )

5-10 grams of Branched Chain Amino Acids and Glutamine (3-5 grams of BCAA and/or 3-5 grams of glutamine)
3-5 grams of creatine monohydrate.

Rgosit...I played around with different grams of Dextrose and found that 100, 75 and 50g was too much for me. I got fat. And I mean fat not bulk! So I cut back a little at a time on the Dextrose over a year (2 months per gram amount) to see what works for my body type (I'm a Endo/Meso combo) so gaining weight (fat) isn't too hard for me. I say play with various gram amounts and keep good records. Expect to gain a little fat but not too much. A little fat means you are giving your body enough nutri to GROW. Remember that everyone is different. This is why I buy all my supps seperate and mixed them myself.

i will have to do that... i gain easily gain weight.... with my body type.. im always gong ot have to use a cutting type diet. I dont look to bad.. but my stomach looks bad.. i have one of those block type six packs that sticks out.. but when i sit down i have allot of rolls.. and my stomach sticks out about as far as my chest if not furthur.. ..this is y ipost the how much question..because i will get fat easily.
 
I had a hard time finding all of the materials at one place so I just bought them at protien factory they had everything. It seemed pricey to me. They better give me free shipping or something. Oh well.
 
It isn't necessary to use Dextrose but it will be the fastest to absorb. It is the quickest absorbed and digested monosaccharide while fructose is absorbed a little bit slower. To me, it isn't enough of a difference to make me go out and by dextrose just for postworkout.
 
Fructose will restore liver glycogen, not muscle glycogen. Dextrose will restore muscle glycogen. There's a big difference b/w sugar and dextrose. And w/ fructose once your liver glycogen is restored, guess what? It will spill over to the fat cells.

Just my 2cents...
 
I wanted to find everything at one place. I had a hard time finding the maltodextrin at other places. Ill try it and keep you guys posted on how it goes. I also ordered some ALA.

11 pounds? Bro that will last you a very long time. You figure 1 scooper which is 1/3 cup is equivalent to 75g of dextrose. Don't think you'd want more than that, but it will last you a long time. I'm halfway done w/ my 11 pounds and I think I bought it like 5 months ago.

Not flaming you, but where did you get that information from?
