dextrose on ckd diet

desman

New member
I am currently on a ckd diet and i want to add dextrose to PW, I am just wondering on how much i should take while on CKD so i can stay in or near ketosis? I know for most people its around 40-50 grams so i was thinking about 20 grams will do.
thnx for the help!

I think it will be counterproductive to use dextrose post-workout on a CKD, but to each his own...

hmmm now im confused...lol If i should not use dextrose post workout, what should i use to replenish glycogen stores or should i just not worry about it till i go on a maintenance program?

desman, by replenishing your glycogen stores daily, you actually reduce the fat burning and anabolic effects of a ckd. Understand the principles behind a diet before you try to use it. Many people feel that ckd's do not work for them, or they lost muscle while on it. In reality the messed up the diet, and didn't actually do a ckd. If you take dextrose post workout, you will not get the best results, and to be honest with you, you are NOT doing a ckd.

i am under the assumption that the amt of carbs taken PW via dextrose would not be counted towards my daily limit of carbs and would not effect my daily carb amt range for the day. Also if it helped preserve some lean muscle mass vs a bit slower fat loss, im all game for it, as i can hopefully achieve both somewhat rather then losing fat and a great deal of muscle mass at the same time, but thnx for your side of the story

Most dextrose I have purchased has been 5 grams or so per teaspoon.
If I were running a calorie deficiet on CKD I would not worry about glycogen until my refeed day. If you are eating a high calorie CKD then maybe go with a partial refeed. I think overall it depends on how you feel. Some versions of CKD have people do a mid week mini-refeed. I would think taking in extra dextrose would be counter-productive on a ckd while trying to burn fat.

god thank you finally... every goddamn thread is talking about replenishing muscle glycogen pw/o on ckd... the K in ckd stands for KETOSIS...in ketosis, you are utilizing fat for energy NOT glucose... henceforth you are not depending wholly on glycogen for your "energy stores" Some swear by it and it may have a legitimate ckd usage, but dextrose will NEVER be part of U]my[/U] "cKd's" :D
