Detour Protein Bars

everyone is posting different results...some show that the label is right on...others show it is way off....

i eat them once and a while and will believe the label on this one...i have had 2 of there products tested and they were always right on the money.....

Ok, I just tried a Detour bar. They taste good at first, but after I tasted the caramel part, the rest of the bar had a mealy texture and a bad after taste. My favorite is still Mesotech Cookies & Creme. I consider all bars as "candy with protein".

From what I've heard, they are not label accurate. I also heard that every Detour will be different because of the amount of peanuts that are in each one. (that seemed rather stupid to me)
Now that last comment came from a lady from Next Proteins(or is it Next Nutrition) but it still sounded silly to me. She also did say that the bars did not meet lable claims when tested but the new batches will have to meet them. So, who knows. Anyone try their new U-Turn bar? It really is too bad that they don't meet their claims cuz they are really yummy, knew they were too good to be true!

Let's look at the ingredients:

Other Ingredients: Designer Whey Protein Blend (Whey Protein Concentrate, Hydrolyzed Whey Protein, PDUF whey protein isolate), water, GLYCERLEAN (99.7% USP Glycerine, L-Leucine, L-Taurine, CLA), Chocolate Coating (Sugar, Partially Hydrogenated palm kernel Oil, nonfat dry milk solids, cocoa powder processed with alkali, whole milk solids, soy lecithin, natural flavor, salt, artificial flavor), Peanuts, caramel, soy protein isolate, gelatin, calcium caseinate, inulin, peanut flavor, rice flour, salt, Sucralose(Splenda Blend), potassium sorbate.

I've bolded the issue with this bar and with most other bars. Gelatin has a protein value, but is not a complete protein - by a long shot. Calcium caseinate is another crap protein - poor amino acid profile. The other one to look out for is collagen - basically, ground up bone (just check the label for the Triple Decker bar). YUM! At least this bar has a little whey protein isolate - but probably just a little. I would not rely on these "protein" bars as a protein source; if you're in a bind, it's better than a candy bar, but that's it.

I'll agree with that. The u-turn doesn't 'claim' to have as much protein and I don't think it tastes as good. :)
