Despite being a carnivore

Let's undo 7 million years of evolution because we dont want to be "mean"

While archeaological anthropology is always speculative in the regards of ritual, there's still a general consensus that even our paleolithic ancestors honored their kills (the ones who've given their lives so that you can live) through the 'magic' of mimic and illustration. Funny, even humans with a small percentage of our brain power~perhaps not even bi-cameral~were able to understand and appreciate an animal's sacrifice, even if it was just their central nervous systems suggesting the honor/ceremony.

That's pretty much how I see the site's plea, they're never gonna change meat eaters to vegetarians, they (as well as myself) simply would like to see humane treatment of these animals and they're using agitprop to make their case.

I simply honor it by letting its flesh touch my teeth. My way of honor is just as valid.

What exactly is an honor - its all relative, all an emotional response.

I am not a crazy activist who is against meat eating but i do find a few points interesting -

1. Are our body's designed to consume meat? In the animal kingdom all carnivores have short thick (in diameter) intestines - this is so the meat can move quickly through the digestive system as animal flesh decays very quickly - they also have acid based saliva designed for digesting meat. Herbivores have long thinner intestines (digestive systems up to 10 - 12 times the length of their own body) with alkaline based saliva designed for digesting vegetation. Studies have shown that eating a meat based diet is harmful to animals that normally eat vegetation - a rabbit was fed a half pound of meat daily for two months and it's blood vessels became caked in fat and atherosclerosis - like that of the rabbit the human digestive system may not be designed to digest meat.

Humans and anthropoid apes (Orangutans, chimps and gorilla's) have very similar digestive systems designed to eat fruit, nuts, grains and vegetation. We have long intestines for the gradual digestion of fruits and vegetables. Like all herbivores we also release an enzyme 'Pytalin' in our saliva which along with good chewing is necessary for the digestion of vegetation - carnivores obviously do not produce this enzyme. So are we designed to eat meat when our genetic make up is so like herbivores and unlike carnivores.

Even animals like Gorilla's who are Omnivores have a very amounts of meat in their diet. According to wiki animal food sources make up less than 1% of there diet.

So are we meant to eat meat and if we are should it be a low percentage of our overall food intake?

2. The second point is quite well known which is in regard to world hunger. Livestock is very unfriendly in regard to farming space - In the space it takes to grow and let a cow graze and live to provide enough food for 1 person grain can be grown to feed 3 people and soya beans to feed 6. If all the 6+ billion people eat meat there is only enough agricultural space to feed 3 billion people. If everyone was vegetarian we could easily feed all 6+ billion.

Just some interesting points that get me thinking. Please dont ask for links because most of my info came from books. Also please don't think I am some nutter - these are just some points I found interesting.

Gee, that sucks.

I think I'll go have myself a filet mignon. I love eggs. Fish! YUMMY!!!

Sorry, but those are ANIMALS that are MY FOOD.

Just as are the greenbeans, broccoli and oatmeal.

*Simply choose to eat vegetarian to "end the slaugher"*?!?! You have GOT to be kidding me.

How bout this? Ya'll eat vegetarian so there is MORE MEAT FOR ME.

As long as the meat isn't fucked up in any way by the harsh treatment. You know, like if you don't kill a deer with a headshot its adrenaline levels will spike before it dies and the meat will taste like shit. A lot of the slaughter places I've seen in those undercover nightly news type videos look like they'd be good breeding grounds for diseases too. As long as my meat's clean and tastes like it's supposed to is my point here.
