To say that DHEA is a "bunch of crap" is a little inaccurate. It would not be a good choice for younger athletes interested in muscle growth however physiological levels of dhea in your body start dropping after age 25 and by 40 years of age are significantly lower. DHEA is the most plentiful hormone in the body and is a primary hormone in the "hormonal cascade" two steps away form testosterone and estrogen. I would say for an older bodybuilder, dhea would be a useful supplement for a variety of reasons. I would NOT categorize it as a usefull prohormone in the commonly accepted manner.
