Dehumidifiers

Who has them and what kind do you have? Size? Are they any good, is there anything I should look for?

I'm looking for a medium size one for my basement. It looks like the 35 pint ones as opposed to the 65 pint units. I'm getting the smaller one because I'll be draining it constantly into the existing drain and won't worry about the tank filling up.

I have 3 different kinds (different buildings). They all work, but get one that runs quietly. I have a nice one that is made by Hunter (don't know the model), & an Emerson Quiet Kool, those are my favorites. A Whirlpool is the loudest one I have. Some are just more efficient than others, the less efficient ones seem to run longer & louder to remove the same amount of moisture as the better ones. Conclusion: Don't go the cheap route. ps. Go to Home Depot or Lowe's.

Thanks! That's what I was looking for. Emerson... I'll take a look and the Home Depot one's are Maytag I think. Hunter usually has a good rep, I'll look at those as well.

Maybe I should get the larger 50-60 pint one instead of the 35 so it does'nt run constantly. There are a few reasons why I want the smaller one though. I'm placing it high on a wall, close to the ceiling and it'll drain into an existing drain, so I won't have to keep emptying the container, and it'll be in my basement so I'll just forget about it down there. How often will I go to my basement and workout and hear all the noise? pffft, never really.

jk gotcha about the noise thing, maybe I'll look at some comparison charts on the quietness factor..
