First, see the thread below for my views on rap. I give respect where it is due, regardless of genre.

Second, Slipknot are not metal. I hate to tell you, but the metal fans decide what metal is. Slipknot is not. Your arguments are non sequitor.

Care for an anaology? Too bad. Here's one anyway. Who is a bodybuilder? Only those over 250lbs? Only those with less than 8% bodyfat? Only those who compete in shows? The definition of what is metal, much as the same with what the definition of a bodybuilder is, depends on the relative view of the person judging.

I am viewing the definition of metal from the perspective of a person who has been involved with the scene for numerous years, been around the country supporting the bands and the scene. A mainstream view of metal will differ substantially. Much as the same way a professional bodybuilder scoffs those who weigh as much as, for example, someone like you (or me, for that matter) . They don't consider a 190lb gym goer a bodybuilder in the same way I don't consider Slipknot metal.

Perhaps you still need to learn there exist other perspectives in the world that differ from your insignificant view. Unless you are metal, and support the scene, metal does not give a damn about your opinions.

Moreover, please structure your arguments better in the future, as I find it hard to deal with people that have a gradeschool mentality.... "Slipknot is fucking metal, no fucking question. You goddman stupid fucker".... please expound. Without useless obscenities would be a treat as well.

A. They do much more than just downtune. Its not like they are playing slide guitar at drop B (they are lower than D you dumb shit). If there were a checklist of metal characteristics they would more than satisfy every single one of them.

God this cracks me up........Personally I think all the groups your talking about are metal. Just different types of Metal in my opinion. The group that represents metal to me and were the first ones to actually say that they were a metal band and not dodge the name were "Judas Priest". That is Classic Metal.

Please tell me about your past, eg. bands (recording) played in/with, list of (metal) concerts you have been to, including any big name shows/bands/first US appearances, and how you have supported the scene throughout the years.
Although... I don't consider much of anything before I was born metal... Iron Maiden and a few select others... I don't do much debate on 'classic' metal, and when the modern scene came into being. Therefore your argument of supporting a non-existing scene pre-1980 is null.
I'll give you extra credit metal points if you have ever seen Bathory live.
