deads rep scheme

just curious about you all, what kind of set/rep scheme do you use when doing deads? currently i'm doing 5x5, which is really exhausting but i'm progressing nicely so its all good. what about you all?

Actually i just asked this same question on another board not too long ago. I was also asking about whether to do a 5X5 or not. It was suggested to me to change it week to week maybe a 5X3 one week, a 5X5 the next week and maybe a week where you do higher reps like a 5X10. That way you are using a variety of weight/rep ranges. Just a thought

5x5 is grueling. i did that for a while and clearly remember the suck factor. works pretty well though obviously or it wouldn't be grueling.

right now i dl every other week. when i do them, i alternate each time whether i go heavy or focus on reps.

heavy days: 4 sets of 5 with 20lb increments until the last set is the most i can hit for 5

rep days: 3 sets of 10,8,6. 20lb increments here, too

5x3 or 6,4,2 or 7,5,3 depending on what I am aiming for 5x3 works well on bringing up a lagging deadlift IMO, but 6,4,2 increasing weight help me get some pr's and use to heavy weight

Haven't done deads in a while due to a wrist injury. But I used to do them every other week, with the rep sceme like this:

10 -warm up
8 - warm up
6 - working
4 - working
3 - working

smurfy; that's actually what i do, though not on a weekly basis. when it gets too strenuous (sp?) or exhausting (or when my gains plateau, whichever comes first) i switch to 5x3, 3x5 or sometimes 3x3 (though that's hell on my joints and forearms after a couple of weeks)

ssme; you workout bor? j/k mang, don't the 10 reps exhaust you?

I generally don't rep out deads too much. Back when I did I would do 3 x 3, moving up 10lbs each set, then the next week starting my working sets 10lbs higher.

It worked fairly well for getting my deadlift better, it was after a layoff and got it back up to par fairly quickly.

lol yeah they aren't fun. of course neither is the next 8 reps at a higher weight and so on. i am always lightheaded after finishing the higher rep sets.
