oh man, you already trained? geesh wish i could function normally in the A.M. lol.

yes, conv deads when you bend at the knee bring the bar up using your back.

Ah ok I will be addying this to next weeks back training. I am pretty impressed with myself that I got my lazy ass out of bed. I hope I can keep this I feel great for 10 a.m. normally I am just getting my wits about me.

No deads here.

They make my low-middle back blow up fast and destroy my symetry.

I wasn't born with a 28" wasteline, so I need all the v-taper I can get.

I do not feel deads are necesary for bodybuilding.

christmas tree?
i know a few who say this can be done with low rows, but i made the most improvments with deads

maybe look into partial deads

i had a 28" waistline... girly thin.

i'm just a tad under 30 now, from deads.

is it possible to get the same effects from hypers or reverse hypers? i'd imagine they'd be hitting the erector spinae the same. i have these small pipes along my back now, deads are great :D

Not possible to get the same thickness throughout from Hypextensions.

I do them on back day.

Smurfy, can you explain more what you are talking about as far as muscle groups involved with SLDL vs. Conventional?

I was under the impression that Conventional simply brought the quads more into the equation, and that the back was equally involved in both movements.

SLDLs: mostly ham and glute. i squeeze my hams and glutes when i do these. i try as much as possible not to use my back for pulling the weight up.

Conventional Deads: back, baby. entire back. i also feel these in my legs a bit but omg the pump in the lower and mid back is phenomenal

Very interesting. I still can't figure that out. Maybe we're shaped differently :)

It's weird, because even in a conventional deadlift the prime movers are still hams and glutes.

I'd say the lower back probably sees enough static weight to grow, but I wouldn't say the same for the rest of the back.

Deads do interfere with squats, so although it makes literal sense to do them on leg day, I'd put deads on back day (if I did a split routine)
