Deadlifts

ok guys i am left handed, and my grip for deadlift is my left hand palm facing backwards. And my right hand facing forwards.

Ok my question is. My right bicep is lagging behind my left one by a fair amount. If this because of my deadlifting.

Should i sawp grips and alternate my palm facing back and fourth every week or something?

Thanks for the help guys and gals.

Are you sure it's not just lagging because you're left handed and use your right arm more? When I first started training my left side was a lot weaked, because I'm right handed. How long have you been training?

this is not because of dead grip
more mind-muscle work needed when training arms

how long have you been going?

when i started training, my left was smaller and weaker( i'm right handed)
now my left actually looks better and is equal in strength

...and you shouldn't be pulling with your biceps to deadlift anyway, no matter what your grip.

My right is stronger yet smaller by a very small amount than my left arm. It gets tired quicker than the right also. I try to stay conscious of it and when doing my concentration curls on the preacher seat I do my left first when I have more energy and focus. Most people have a stronger bicep than the other so don't feel weird about that. If it was a big difference like an inch in size smaller you might want to worry, or if you can do 50 pounds in one hand and only 25 in the other then you may have a problem.

Both Bigguns15 and I have different sized arms that we attribute to deadlift. The arm with the palm facing forward is slightly bigger on both of us.

either you misprinted or i think everyone missed something.

your talking about a mixed grip deadlift. left hand (your dominant one) overhanded. and your right hand (your weaker one) underhanded.

if one bicep does grow more it would be your right one, the one with the underhand grip. you flex it when you deadlift sometimes just out of trying to move everything.

so if your left bicep is getting bigger, the one with the overhand grip. than thats just genetics.

Everyone has one side slightly stronger then the other. Its not from the deadlifting in my opinion. I dont have that problem and have been deadliffting steadily for over a year. I use an alternating grip as well. Also deadliffts dont hit the biceps directly, since your arms stay straight throughout the movement. Is there a large size difference between the 2 arms? Youd have to measure the circumference of them flexed to know for sure, looks can be decieving. Do you concentrate on one arm more then the other? The other arm will catch up Im sure. Just be sure to force your weaker arm to keep up with the stronger one. Even if you need to do forced reps with a spotter. Hope that helps

i'm left handed brotha..i would keep the same grip. and your bicep laggin behind can be helped with db curls/hammer curls with some rack deads thrown in as well. swapping the grip may confuse you and your body when you pull. tb
