Deadlifts with Trap Bar

It depends what your goals are. TBD hits the legs more than the back because the weight is on the center of gravity line. It feels more like a squat than a deadlift for my long-legged person. Could be different for you.

I think they are awesome though. They are a great ego exercise because you can use so much weight. I recommend doing them on a platform to increase the range of motion.

The thing I don't like about them is that eventually the handles would start to tilt forward in my hands and tweak my wrists.

One thing it is great for is shrugs, beats the hell out of a straight bar and you never hit your nuts.

Overall I prefer regular squats and deadlifts but if you have one use it for a couple of months and see what you think.

Thanks for the advice. I've used one for shrugs before, and I loved it for that purpose too. Just had no idea how it was for deads. I am really wanting to hit back hard, so I think I'll stick to the straight bar then.

Use them for a variation...variation is key.

Doctor Bollix, I thought I was the only one who hit his nuts when doing barbell shrugs. Thats why I tend to avoid the exercise. Good to hear that I'm not the only one with this problem. I still like dumbells best. Problem is finding heavy enough ones, in the girly gym that I go to.
