I've been doing stiff-legged deadlifts now for a while and the trainer I see on/off tells me that my form is perfect. She also has told me that deadlifts are 'the' best exercise for upper ham and lower glutes area which seems to be a hard one for me. I have noticed a significant amount of muscle in the midle ham area but not upper ham/lower glutes. Am I missing something or are deadlifts just not the best for this area?
I'll usually do squats and lunges with a free barbell but I find that doing lunges and squats(feet more forward) on the Smith machine helps me strain the muscles in that area more.
Suggestions? Would leg curls be a good addition to the deadlifts? I'm currently doing free barbell lunges/squats, leg press for quads and walking lunges and deadlifts for hams.
Any help is appreciated,
Thanks!
