Deadlifts and biceps

Any one else get sore biceps the day after deadlifts?

I did a shit load of deads yesterday, and was planning on doing a bi and tri workout today. No way on the biceps though. They are too sore!

If you're shrugging the bar at all during the rep it could cause your bi's to get sore

If you are trying to grow, let them heal.

...no wonder PLers have big biceps even though they never train them. ;)

my bis get sore after deadlifts because I do bis after my back routine. Don't work them out you won't allow proper time for healing them.

Make sure your alternating which hand is over and which is under. Dont train anything if its sore. I do my deadlifts on a day with hamstrings and traps and so I can train my bi's with back or on my cardio day.

My bis get a little sore also, especially my left because I keep it underhand more...I have started stretching my bis in between sets the past few months after hearing enough instances of people tearing a bi

your "under" bi should be the most sore, mostly from the stretch that holding hundreds of pounds can cause. be careful, this is the bi that always tears too...ouch

Which is why i use straps. Over and under can be real dodgy on the bi's. Not worth the risk.

This thread has been a learning expereince for me. I've never felt my bis working in the slightest on deads.

I use an opposing grip, and still never feel in in the underhanded arm. The bar hangs at the longest point possible, and my arm never contracts, so I'm not even sure HOW I would feel in in my bis. We're all different, I guess!

likewise, but I will try the undergrand grip per japanese machine's suggestion. I do the opposing grip and switch over each set..

My bis could use some help, I will try this underhand grip too.

Hey spatts;)

I usually feel it the most as i am in an upright position; the last portion of the lift. I also try to do a couple sets at the end without straps to build up my forarms and bis.

I dunno ive always gotten a good amount of indirect stimulation in all my lifts.

i have always been told that someone who can bench 300 lbs should be able to deadlift 400. I have platued at a 330 bench and my dead is at 400.

Someone put a limit on your numbers, and you listened? Next time step on their foot really hard and run like hell. ;)

Is this another biceps thread:fro:

Basicly if you are tall and have long arms like me 6 ft 6 inches betwix fingertips you should be able to deadlift more than you bench after a reasonable amount of training exposure;)

I'm like Spatts I guess, cause I don't feel my biceps working at all on Deads. I use an over/under grip, however, I keep my arms straight and don't shrug the weight. That way I save all my energy for the muscles that actually get the weight off the floor.

Oh, and I think there should be more then a 100lb difference between your bench and deadlift. If you can bench 300 lbs, your deadlift should be at least 450, maybe even 500. My goal is to be able to bench 315, dead 500, and squat 400.

Haz that sounds pretty resonable on the weight for an all around well developed lifter. My older brother used to tell me that what ever you worked out with on bench, should be exactly half your max squat and deadlift. I always kept up with this untill last year, where my bench went upto the point where I could squat double the standard weight I was working with.:(

i feel weak.. i can bench 180, dead around 300 im guessing.. and squat.. not sure.. but i can squat atleast 220

you should never feel weak if you improve little by little. Comparing to other people is good for motivation, but don't get down on yourself. progress is progress.

I talked to a group of world record and American record holding squatters and deadlifters this weekend, and asked them about this. They just looked at eachther and shook their heads like this was a new one. "Biceps? When we DEADLIFT?" They had no idea what I was talking about. Glad it's not just me.
