deadlift problems

110%

New member
can anyone help me out here. i believe i am doing deadlifts with correct form but every time i do them i skin my knees with teh bar, usually most on the way back down, did anybody ahve this problema nd figure out what im doing. or can anybody give me some basic form things to look for that will keep me from doing this?

bro....welcome to the world of deadlifts. Don't worry.....if the weight is rubbing on your knee's and shins then you're using the right form. The only thing that I do to prevent it or lessen the pain is I wear sweat pants. Other than that.....no pain, on gain!!!

Bigmag, when you're doing dls, are you lowering the weight with your legs similar to a squat motion, or are you bending at the waist with a posture similar to a bent row?

Since I lift on a platform I usually just drop the weight. Otherwise I am all scarred up from deads.

By dragging the bar up your shins your using a closer/better center of gravity, which means you'll be able to lift more and are less likely to injure yourself

that is the sign you are doing them right, I hate to tell ya. Most deadlifterrs have scabbed shins and knees, mine are right at the mid-shin line. For the bar to be in the right place it has to rub your skin. You can run a line of duct tape under your pants to protect from the scrape (looks dumb but works)

best of luck with your deadlifts!
