deadlift form

New member
i always thought i had good form when doing deads. however, i'm currently doing 5X5 and as my weight gets heavier, my form is getting crappy.

i keep wanted to round my back - any suggestions on how to correct this?

thanks

sorry - i have no video camera or digital camera...i'm behind in the world of technology.

Lower the weight a bit, and make sure you keep your back arched HARD and TIGHT.
Soon, the tight arch will feel very natural even when the weights get higher, and you will be able to hold it.

I often thought I did everything with good form... until I videotaped myself and posted on this board...lol. Maybe you can find someone to take a look at your deads. Maybe someone in your gym competed as a powerlifter, etc.

i had an awesome day in the gym yesterday. my form felt awesome - i kept my back nice and arched. perhaps i was just having a bad day last week...

by the way...5X5 is awesome...i've added 20 pounds to my deads in the past month.

I say lighten the load. . .

Make sure your 5 x 5 reps are quality reps.

Also, you can work on weak points. . you may want to consider:

- barbell rows
- hyperextensions
- good mornings

Always keep your form clean even if it requires lightening the load.

Good luck!
