Dead Beat Relatives Appearing at Christmas Time.

Any relatives suddenly appearing as Christmas approaches? The kind that always want something? Or you'd like to disown?

My grifter sister just started phoning and leaving messages after being gone for years. Wants to "hook up" for the holidays. Plays on people's emotions with tales of woe and lots of crying.

Oh ya .... This means she wants to sleep and eat in my house ... and won't leave until I give her money. Will drag along her dead beat illegal French-Canadian "husband" too.

The answer is NO.

I have an uncle that is a crackhead. He usually tries to mooch of my grandma first but she won't give him anymore money just food. Then he tries me next it usually starts with a ride to the store then he'll act like he forgot his money at home and then asks to borrow some. He always tries to mooch from whoever he can for whatever he can.

Wow I have one of those too, but he actually lives with my grandma. His daughter is about to do hard time for selling meth to an undercover cop. Gotta love the holidays!

My uncles has 3 kids by 3 women who don't want him to be any part of their lives. He also went to jail recently for driving on a suspended license and some warrant. His bond was $500 and his girlfriend said she needed $300 more to get him out. So they were trying to get my grandma to pay like she has done every time. This time my other uncle told her not to and to call me and I would know what would happen if she didn't bond him out. He told her I had more law problems before and would know what would happen to him. I told her he would be out in 48hrs with a new court date. Then 48hrs he was released with a court date. When he got out he was bitching at my grandma and she told him "Well Daniel said you would be let out in two days." So he's been pisseed at me for the last year or so. I told him that it wasn't my fault that he's in his 40's and don't have his life together. I really wish I could help him but he don't want help

It really is sad. My uncle is 50 and his daughter (my cousin) is 25. He is still on and off drugs, he just goes back and forth. She is a Springer episode, 2 kids by different dads. One of the dads she was serious with, the other dad is his best friend. She will lose the kids, she has a minimum of 10 years looking her in the face. I don't feel sorry for her, I feel sorry for the kids.

My father/stepmother, sister in law & brother in law are all on fixed income (old age, or disability). My brother, with the disabled wife, doesn't make much money.
The only thing they will let us do for them is to have holiday dinners at my house.
My boarder, however, couldn't keep a job or a GF to save his life. Too many health issues & baggage.

Thanks bro! I appreciate the kind words. Luckily, I don't know the kids at all. She still lives in my hometown, I haven't lived there for about 6 or 7 years so I was never around them. If I was close to them I would probably choke her out.

it's funny though how things go.
A generation ago I had an Uncle & a second cousin who both were incorrigable. He'd had an accident, & used it as an excuse not to work, & died young after too much booze & smokes. She'd got caught up in her love of meat. couldn't stop seducing peeps. Tried to seduce my Dad (related to him by marriage), slept with the minister, & a host of others. 3 kids by 2 different guys. Now she's born again, like the Jesus warrior from Trading Spouses.

I stayed home this year. I'm tired of putting thought and decent money behind my xmas gifts that largely go unappreciated. I'm the only child of four w/o children so I'm tasked with getting gifts for a batch of nephews and neices. I bought one nephew a nice watch for xmas last year. He still hasn't bothered to get it fitted. One of my sister's is notorious for taking all the gifts back and getting them exchanged. Fuck it.
