when i did seated DB shoulder presses for the first time last week, i tried to do them w/ elbows in but i just couldnt do that without it feeling very unnatural. so i went elbows out as it seems everybody does and i could feel my shoulders rotating pretty badly. it hurt and i could hear cracking, etc. i'm not injured or anything but it really prevented me from going anywhere on that exercise. very unstable

whats up w/ that?

why not just do them with a neutral grip........ that guarante's you keeping the shoulders in.

i dont think it'd have as much carryover to my bench

it will have more carryover to your bench. thats why wsb does pretty much every dumbell exercise with a neutral grip.

i have more range of motion with less pain using the neutral grip. i also fell it significantly more in my triceps.

plus at the top, i get full contraction from my delts with a neutral grip.

by neutral grip you mean with your palms facing you, like you'd do a dumbbell extension, right?
