For the last month and a half i've been curling my 50lb dumbbell at work. I do about 5-8 sets of 5-8 reps a day. I started doing this because no matter what I do at the gym in 1 day, I can never achive the soreness that I did in the past. The growth in the arms was stagnet and with Summer (cutting) rolling around I always expect to drop mass on the arms.
I've read Arnold would keep DB's hidden around the place and would just curl all day long. So I brought my DB into my cubicle and started it on a trail basis. And preacher curl them against my leg while sittin in my cube.
Results: It's interesting for sure. The biggest my arms ever were was when I was 220lbs. I've now cut down to 185lbs and my arms are now the same size as they were at my peak. The constant working out has shaped the bicep into an increased peak, and my arms are always 'pumped' now. I'm going to continue to run this for the remainder of the year.
My arms still are not sore due to this, but they are maintaining the mass and it's becoming increasingly easier to curl the 50lb DB.
My general philosophy about this is that - The body will adapt to the needs of everyday life. (Think Farmboy strength). Sitting in a cubicle for 8 hours a day for 5 days a week, overrides the training of once a week for 45-60 minutes.
