Does anyone know what happen to him.Just wondering i meet him when i was a kid back in 79/80 at BB show here in NY.My Dad took me back stage to meet him.He was very cool and took time out to talk to me. Thanks

He owns the World gyms in a small town just outside of Santa Cruz, CA. Go there at the right time and you will see him there. The gym is quite inspirational with all the old giant pics of him and Arnold training circa early-mid 70's. He is actually more ripped and vascular than he was back in his heyday...(for the life of me I can't remember the name of the town...Scott's Creek, Scottsville, something like that...hell I trained there for several months in 2002)

For anyone who has ever doubted what dicks the Weider's are, you should watch the "E True Hollywood Story" about Draper.

I have to hand it to Draper, his life went to absolute shit for a while, and he totally pulled himself back up and out of some really dreary times. That dude is an inspiration to anyone who has ever gone through a rough time in their life.

People can say that maybe Dave signed contracts, no one forced him to work for the Weider's, etc. But to see what the Weiders were making, and how they took advantage of Draper, how little they paid him, all while Draper's image was making them rich, shows how unethical the Weider's are. I cant belive thier lock (almost monopoly control) over the sport has lasted as long as it has.

Dave Daraper and his wife Laree are two of the nicest, most genuine people you'll ever meet.

I spoke with Dave about the Weider years and he realizes that he didn't make the most of it. He also realizes that without Weider, no one wold have ever heard of him. But Dave wanted a quiet life whereas Arnold took advantage of the fame and parlayed it into superstardom.

Dave is a true bodybuilder. Still works hard. Still looks for ways to improve. And at 60 he looks better than most guys half his age with twice the ego.

The man is a legend. They don't make 'em like that anymore.

Dave Draper and Larry Scott are the reason I got into body building. We did'nt have Arnold then. but a handful of others. Those guys were great.

hell the weiders only drove dave draper to taking heroin, crystal, coke, and acid...............he like passed out in his garage one day, I forget the story, but dave is the man, arnold has really given him credit for the early years, on his website there is a pic of arnold, dave, and mike katz, arnolds arms are awesome, its on davedraper.com, gallery, proof #2>

I remembered the name of the town last night, it's Scotts Valley, CA.

In my opinion, which may not be worth a shit to anyone else, I think that Dave Draper in his prime had one of the best physiques of all time. I'm glad that he is doing well, as he was a true inspiration to many of us. Also thanks, for the link to Dave's website.
