respectfully, i think this is one of the only issues i TOTALLY disagree with you... aas are great for sports and athletic performance, just NOT on a bodybuilder's diet and training routine... bigger faster stronger...
i know dbol was used a lot in the past by the russians and germans in olympic competition, and im not saying that is the best choice, but it does work...
i disagree moya. he said he does kickboxing, running and swimming. dbol is one of the worst AAS for those sports. you cannot run more than a half mile on dbol... swimming i doubt you will go very far at all
i've explained in depth as to why AAS cripples endurance but I will do it again. lots of guys on here have no experience in endurance sports so they don't get it.
when you swim or run its all about heart rate. every year you age you lose a point off your maximum heart rate, everyone knows this.. so lets say you run a 5K and your max heart rate is 190 which is close to what a guy your age would be. you would probably be somewhere at 170 during your 5K and it would slowly inch up as you run, obviously you wouldn't be sprinting the whole way, but you will be mantaining a good pace. once you get close to your max heart rate and hit it you will have to slow back down to lower your heart rate (getting winded) when people train for marathons this is how they train btw, they will have a heart rate monitor with them and it will beep when their heart rate gets too high, then they will walk.. when their heart rate drops back down it beeps again, then they start jogging again. this is how you train for endurance.. similar to what bodybuilders know as interval training
now when you run any AAS your max heart rate will drop which will slow you down. so lets say your max heart rate drops to 180, then expect your top line HR during the 5K to drop to 160 and so on even at a very low dose. that 10 heart rate might not sound like much but it will knock a minute or two off your time.
why does it do this? cause your heart is pumping more blood volume!!
you will notice sprinters are in their 20's .. Manut Bol is only 25.. give him a few years and he won't be winning golds anymore. his max heart rate will continue to drop as he ages .. now with endurance running a lot of the best ones are in their 30's.. cause with endurance running you aren't hitting your max heart rate.. you are mantaining a lower heart rate the whole run. hope this makes sense
so what makes someone a great endurance runner or sprinter? someone who trains their ass off and strengthens their heart so they can go balls out and not hit their max heart rate quickly. there are 3 tricks with endurance sports.
1. using a chamber prior to your race
2. training at high altitudes.
3. blood doping
neither of which are practical unless you want to invest in a chamber and sleep in it .. or drive up into the mountains and train for a week then go to your race.. i bet a lot of guys do this out west.
and we haven't even mentioned the 2nd major problem.. that is PUMPS. more blood volume pumping will result in pumps.. it is impossible to run when your calf feels like its about to explode like a balloon.
bottom line is AAS does not make you faster, that is a myth. stronger yes, bigger yes.
http://www.runnersweb.com/running/hr_calculator_new.html << one of many sites you can calculate your max heart rate. or you can get a heart rate monitor and tie it around your body and track your heart rate when you run. you will learn A LOT about how heart rates work. with weightlifting your heart rate jumps briefly during your set then drops back down.. with endurance sports.. whether it be running, swimming or whatever. you have to keep that thing up for a long time. they are NOT the same sports
