everyone is pretty much gonna tell you that cardio and your diet is the best to lose fat

Yep, this is exactly what we told him when he started a bunch of "I need a magical way to lose a lot of fat in two weeks so I can look shredded for my hot cousin at Christmas" threads back in December.

there is a ton of stuff and people out there saying now you dont need cardio to lose fat....diet, diet, diet and training are fine

Well I hate to overcomplicate things but be careful with overgeneralizing too. it has to do with calories in vs. caloiries out... and surely you don't need any cardio to cut if your calories are low enough..but if they are so low that you're not getting to maintenance or you're hurting your ability to fuel your workouts, you're taking it too far. IMO, you are better off adding cardio and keeping cals a tad higher daily. Plus... don't forget heart health, cardio plays a role in more than just the burning of calories.

I'm no cardioaholic but 2-3x a week will benefit anybody.

I agree with you but...the research I have read highlights the potentially better benefits of weight training in terms of fat burning well after training session is ended, less the catabolic impact of cardio (vs anabolic from weight training)

on the heart health aspect, a 20-rep squat session will teach your heart a lesson or two about getting in shape!!

a few folks i know have had success replacing cardio with HIT training....my .02 cents

Actually it was because I was going away and assumed I would be putting on a little bit so I assumed I would try and lose a little bit of weight before I went away, but if that is how you recall it then certainly a man of your great intelligence couldn't be wrong. I do find it a bit odd that after not coming to the boards in about 4 months you still throw up some old posts in my face.

Oh, and to the asshole who said something about my birth mother, she died of leukemia when I was six years old. I would love to see her again because all I remeber of her was the condition she was in from all the chemotherapy. Well, ironically enough if I did "meet" her again I would definately want to look shredded, so you might be somewhat correct in your response. But fuck you very much for bringing up the most painful memory in my entire life.

There is nothing I hate more than douche bags, but I guess if you both are douche bags on the computer you must be amazing at it in real life, so congratualtions.

Since you bothered to PM me requesting that I not reply to your threads, I'm going to reply to this one again out of spite.

Google 'protein sparing modified fast' if you want an extreme method for losing fat quickly with (relative to the the rate of weight loss) minimal muscle loss.

Dude nobody's singling you out to be bashed on. Fact is, if anyone comes on here, and posts the same thing more than once they get razzed. Guys pick on each other, get thicker skins, no one knows your family history. CS pointed out a good diet, but I wouldn't go that extreme. Simple carb cycling combined with HIIT should be all you need.

Thanks for the advice, and I have plenty thick skin seeing as everytime I make a thread, bogus or legit, CS chimes in with a smart alleck remark and since the first time it happened I never respond, but that remark about my mother by AL whatever crsossed the line. You might not know my family history but that doesnt make it any better.

lol, the only reason I keep doing it is that I hope you will respond. The "boyfriend Raul" posts you made were absolutely hilarious.

I notice you were wanting a routine of some sort in the first post. As we've told you before, weight training, more than any other single factor, will make the biggest difference in muscular bodyweight. If you don't want to do intensive lifting because you think it would interfere with hockey, at least add some sprinting once or twice per week.

Yeah my plan was to stay in good cardiovascular shape until the off seasone, which there never is atrue off season in hockey but from about May to the end of august it is not as intense as during the season. I was planning on starting up a 3x5 to get some muscle on quick in that period of time...run it for about three months, then go back to a little bit of lifting and more aerobic stuff...thanks for the advice though.

IMO

Totally Cut Out the Simple carbs, Up the clean protein and Google HIIT

Toss in some 4x a week Strength Training and you will probably lose as much
and as fast as possible for you..

by strength training you just mean some standard lifts right?

Yea, this worked for me at 44 yrs old and about 25lbs overweight with fat.

For Mass/Growth goals you want EAT, go heavy on the weights and do a 5x5 or Superset program.

For Fat loss primary goal you want to burn as many calories as possible, while maintaining the lean as much as possible with Strengh training.

So I go Moderate on the Weight, higher reps(8-10), full range of motion, more exercises per body part, and very slow rep speeds.(3 count up / 3 count down). 5 days a week, I warm up with 30 minutes of moderate cardio, and after the weights, I do another 30-40 min of Intense Interval cardio.

Depending on how many days you are able to hit the gym decides whether or not the strength training movements are compound or concentrated on each body area.

yea well I am planning on a 3x5......would I need to add in cardio on tues and thurs to get trimmer or would good diet and lifting be enough?

I have heard if at first wen u start lifting (I haven't lifted for months) u burn a lot of fat so...
