Credit Card Debt

Whew 9,500? That's alot but not impossible to pay off. I wouldn't go bankruptcy like you asked in the other thread. Is that over multiple cards or one?

Get a loan before you fucked your credit up which will be much lower interest than the 18-25% you're paying now. How much interest do you pay monthly?

Most I've ever been in debt was $1,500. I just paid $750 and still in about $400. Should have that payed off after next payday though. It will feel great to be debt free.

My cc bills are $2-$6000/month and I pay them off every month in FULL. lol

...and every freaking month they are still 2 - $6000 again. I spend way too much money. At least I don't pay interest.

$60.xx In CC debt.

$94.xx in a department store card too.

I just got my rebates from my money back cards totaling over a hundred. That's always nice. GL I know you use that card just for those rebates, which is a great idea if your going to pay it off anyway.

My mom bought her new car with her Discover card.

lol Yeah, I put a down payment on a car years ago of 5k with my discover. Cash back is awesome.

I get about $500 cashback every year from the cc companies. They must hate me.

How can they afford to do that with peeps that always pay off their balance?

Mom just did it for the $$$.

They play the percentages as with any other business and in life. For every one person getting back $500, there are thousands paying thousands of dollars in interest forever.

i was 30,000 in debt (credit cards only).

debt free now though.

How did you get out of it and how long did it take you?
i started saving around $10,000 per year via my company stock purchase plan and cashed out enough to pay off the debt after 3 years.

CC's should have to post on your bill: how long it will take to pay off the debt making only the minimum payment and how much interest $$ that will be.

Negotiate a lower rate. Sometimes all you need to do is make the call and they will do it. Then pay the damn thing off more than the minimum each month.

and Do NOT keep using the damn cards like it was free money. Drop your sexcond and third phones, your crack habit and whatever else you are overspending on and in time, it will come. good luck.

jk about the crack and the whore of a gf you have, but I just wanted to make a point. good luck.

Because the merchant must pay the credit card company anywhere from 2-5% of the purchase price as a fee for you to use the credit card.

That's why a lot of merchants prefer you use a debit card as an ATM transaction instead of a credit card type transaction. They save money because you pay for the transaction instead of them.

Yep...CC co's get it from us and the merchants.

Zero for me, if I would bought a home I would be in trouble. I am not going to take on a $700k note. You need budget annually more then just monthly or week to week. Some feel a equity line of credit can help you pay those off (of course you need to pay off the HELOC, but you can deduct interest and the rates should be around 7.5-8.5 depending on your credit, LTV and DTI. Reason why the HELOC fails is ppl now have a zero balance and go back to using plastic. Get rid of everything you do not need. Cable, Downgrade cell phone plans, cut those up. I assume you have a high % anyways.

Did you know the bank doesnt have to tell you when the rate on your CC goes up with your CC has an adjustable rate on the credit card.

Get a second job

get out of the debt now!

I hate cc debt, I have a 20,000 debt right now, waiting on my tax returns so I could pay some of it. The holidays kills me on top of car/mortgage payments.

About two years ago, I was debt free. Now about $20k ... shit happens. I've got a super low interest rate (my highest card is at 9%) so ... could be worse.

The choice became live debt free or put money in the 401k.

Ah well, it's only money.

Zero - thanks to my very money-conscious hubby. He is great with money - he is the saver, me the spender.

Same here and it's the reverse in my house.....I'm the saver & he's the spender.....

Same here. Luckily I get a profit sharing contribution that's pretty significant. Almost makes up for it.

I have never owned one before! They are the devil...
Really I was told to start out small by getting store credit cards. So I went to Fashion bug and to Walmart and neither store will give me one because I have no credit! I mean really, what the hell.

You really should start somewhere like you were advised previously. Even if it's a secured card or something that would start you off. After the first one or two cards, they never stop coming. You'll have a credit history in no time.

You may need/want that if you ever plan on buying a home or getting a loan of any kind. Now is the time to start when you don't NEED it, because when you do need it, you'll be too late and running around trying to "catch up". Good luck
