Creatine

Hey guys.. i know i made a post about this a few months back, but I want to start creatine for my next 5/3/1 cycle and see if it has any effect on my lifting. However, I don't know which kind to buy. I can't buy online since i don't have a paypal or anything of my own yet and my parents wouldn't get me any. Any ideas guys?

Thanks as always!!

Creatine monohydrate. Try to buy some that has the "creapure" trademark. Take 5g everyday. It will take a few weeks to build the levels up in your muscles before you notice any effect.

I took it and it hasnt really done anything to me at all, maybe givin me some water rentention but not much. Its hard to tell because I came back from an injury and took it, so my strength went up kinda quick for the first few weeks which could have been the creatine, or it could have been me just getting back up to were I was before the injury. Then also my back and quads seems more blurred but that may be fat gain not water rentention. Finally I am a little more bloated but that could be from the amount of milk I drink or even some fat gains. I will find out though when I run out because Im not buying anymore of it...

you could always get your parents to buy it then give them the cash, thats what I do when I buy stuff from online and I get pretty much everything that is gym related from online...

I can't suggest any particular brand, but that is still available at nutrition stores, if I'm not mistaken. Twinlab made it, or maybe still does. I tried it about 10 years ago, but I think it gave me a bad temper. I usually am easy-going, but after a few weeks on creatine, I felt like I had a really short fuse. I quit it. Other things we discuss here, don't have that affect on me.

Dude you may not realize it but you were like 5 7 185 or less before and now you are like 200-205. I guarantee that is probably a lot to do with creatine.

I buy no-brand CEE (creatine ethyl-esther) and usually take a couple grams a day with meals, and then follow my workouts with a single cap of Kre-alkalyn. Creatine is so cheap nowadays that you can afford to take the special stuff - I estimate that my bill is still less than 50 cents a day. Just go to GNC and see what they have on sale or get a good deal online - the brand is less important as long as it's a reputable company. When I first bought creatine mono in the mid 90s it was like $25 for 100g or even more expensive - a loading phase of 10g day for 5 days meant that 25 bucks lasted you 2 weeks and back then when I was a teenager, that was a hell of a lot!

Hey musketeer this is kind of random but do you think creatine could cause shin splints? I run 3 times a week+ now and recently I got the worst shin splints ever, I started a 5 mile run and by mile 3 I literally wanted to cry, I was going to push through it but figured I'd make it worse so I stopped after 3 miles. I took 2 weeks of only light running and now it seems better, but I'm just curious if creatine could increase water retention and cause them.

i was 185 back in 2009 like november time, I weighed in the 190's before i even took creatine. But are you saying alot of my weight is water weight from creatine?

Tight, overworked shins causes shin splints. I doubt that the creatine did cause your shins to get tight or overworked, but some people see a correlation between creatine dosage and shin pain, so perhaps you will too. I have taken creatine on and off for 14 years and I don't have a problem with over-pumping. I also run - I did 30 miles over 2000m of elevation on Saturday and feel pretty good now except for blisters and two big bloody sores in my groin where my 27" thighs were rubbing!

My advice anyway is that you drink a bit more water and keep up with it and over the next few months the bad effects will diminish.

Alright thanks a lot!

EM: I am saying a lot of your weight is water weight, as I would hope it is. The average human is 60-70% water.
