creatine

JUST STARTED TAKING CREATINE FOR 1ST TIME THIS WEEK. I HAVE BEEN TAKING ABOUT 2GR IN MORNING OR BEFORE WORKOUT, AND 2 AFTER. IS THERE ANY BENEFIT IF NOT WITH HIGH GI CARBS? IN MORNING I EAT OATS OR YAMS. STARTED USING DEXTROSE AT SAME TIME POST W/O BUT I DONT KNOW IF IT IS SOMETHING I WILL CONTINUE. WONDERING HOW MANY OF YOU USE DEXTROSE AND YOUR RESULTS. I IF I TAKE CREATINE WITH BLENDED YAMS POST W/O WOULD I MISS OUT ON ABSORPTION. AM I TAKING THE CORRECT AMOUNT I WEIGH 128LBS. I READ SO MUCH ABOUT WOMEN AND WATER GAIN. I TEND TO HOLD ALOT OF WATER BUT CANT TELL MUCH DIFFERENCE IN PAST WEEK. HOW LONG DO I HAVE BEFORE I AM TWICE THE CAMEL I AM NOW.

Two things:

There are some recent studies that indicate that creatine absorption was the same with protein and carbs as with just a high GI carb since the amount of dextrose it would take to make a difference is HYUGE. I doubt you could consume enough to make an impact. If you want it, I'll dig it up. Also, 2 x 2g /day may not be enough to cause a lot of water weight gain.

2nd, out of curiosity, what is your blood type?

glad to hear about carbs i really dont feel to comfortable taking it. i usually try to stick to a more natural diet. i tried it because of the info i received about fructose not being a great source of carbs post w/o. so now i dont know what carbs to take post w/o. maybe some dextrose blended w/ lower GI carbs. i definitely need quick carbs after w/o. i dont know how people consume only protein after. i usually feel so drained i drink as soon as i finish my last rep before i even stretch. then eat 1 hr after shake. oats or yams and tofu. you think if i increase creatine i will bloat more. is 4-5 gr enough? your 2nd ? is a first made me laugh. sorry maybe its because its friday night(other things on the mind) and i am tring to make myself stay home and do calculus. i really dont know my blood type. why?

After your workout...immediately...get a protein shake with dextrose (a high GI carb). Then within about an hour, get a good meal with protein and clean carbs. So, I guess I'm saying get both. :)

Creatine is "natural." You get it every time you eat red meat. Just not in the same quantity.

I was just wondering if you're o+. Been reading some interesting things about carbs, hypertension, and the o+ peeps. Just curious.

the "natural" was referring to dextrose and not in a strict sense, more of a whole food kind of way. i dont eat meat except for occasional fish 1-2 times a month. thats why i thought i might benefit from creatine. although i tend to be anxiety prone i and hold alot of water i have border line low blood pressure. 20 grams dextrose enough?

Ive never understood all the complications with ingesting creatine??? I can put on 6-8lbs on a cycle of CELL-TECH. My strength and endurance goes up....I do it every time-no exceptions....What I have found in order to achieve this, is dosage intake-related.....Only 5grams at a time, not 10...every 2 hours for a total of 30gr per day while loading.....this is done for 6 days......it takes me 5-10grams per day to maintain....I have used CELL-TECH just prior, 45min...to workout to get a better pump, this is done without the pre-loading phase.....I know alot of people think CELL-TECH is a bunch of BS....but it works for me, and I dont have to get 10 different products to get it into my system.....its seems to be a complete enough product on its own....maybe Iam misssing something here?????

There are no complications. Just take plain creatine monohydrate. Everyone makes it more complicated because they believe all the other expensive shit everyone throws in makes the creatine somehow better.

You don't need 10 different products. I don't have a problem with Cell-Tech per se, just the fact that you're paying for their 8 page color ads in the big $$$ magazines by buying their product that is no better than a off-brand quality product.

A 7 lb container of Cell-Tech on the internet is about $58.00.

Main ingredients are creatine and carbohydrate, along with ALA, but probably not r-ALA.

I can put that same product together, 7 lbs for 33.94 with r-ALA, and without ALA the cost would be about $13.

You can get a 50 lb bag of maltodextrin for $35. Kilo of creatine for $25 or less.

In their 7 lb container, you're only getting 350 g of creatine and 5.8 lbs of essentially glucose.

The problem with this culture is that everyone is looking for hope. Hope to get leaner, hope to get harder, hope to get stronger, etc. The supplement companies sell hope and make a lot of money at it.
