creatine and stomach problems

takezo

New member
Can anyone recomend a creatined product that doen't upset the stomach or cause diarea, I tried the creatine by both "muscle tech "and "eas" in the past , I had good results only the problems with diarea were not worth it.

virtually all creatine products carry a risk of stomach upset and "the runs." What were your dosages? If you were loading, try not loading, just take 5-6g a day for a month; you'll be fully saturated. Some people just cannot endure a loading phase.

Even if you were'nt loading, if your dose was higher than say, 10g a day, cut back. Keep it to 5-6g, I even go as low as 3g a day for maintenance.

Try eating when you take the creatine, also take just 5 grams at a time, many brands like cell tech have 10 grams per serving. I had the same problem you do. So I buy Prolab Creatine, "Creapure", its cheaper and it doesn't screw up my stomach, I also make sure to take it with food.

I heat my water and stir the shit out of it. Creatine does not like to mix with water, but can blend if heated. Try too put too much in for each serving - split it up into two glasses. From what I read, this allows it to pass through the intestine walls better. Undisolved creatine won't digest, and can cause the stomach to flush itself out (diareaha). Its pretty nasty if you're drinking it plain though. I've been told that people with irratable bowl syndrome are especially suseptable to it. Sucralose and Maltodextrin can mess it up too. You also want to be sure to avoid Creatine with Aspartamene as this can cause diareaha. Watch for pre-mixed protien drinks with zero carbs too. And ofcourse lay off the sugar free gum.
