Crazy mass gains! 6 day routine

Just ran down to the school gym to get something and ran into to an old buddy I have not seen for about 4 months. He has been bulking and made a new routine he felt suited him. He is a full blown animal. He has put on 21 pounds in 4 months and I see little fat on him. He ran a copy of his routine so I could post it to see if any one on here has used anything similar. His diet is about 4000-5000 calories a day but he only gets 50 carbs a day from his fruity pebbles in the morning. The rest is ANY meat and spinach. Here is the routine. Every set is to failure. He is not juicing either, he just takes the glutamine, creatine and some good vitamins.

Monday:
Squat- 4x12,10,8,6
Dumbell Military press- 3x10,8,6
Dumbell Pull over- 2 x10,8

Tuesday:
Close grip bench- 3x12,10,8
Bent row- 3x10,8,6
Standing calf raise- 3x12,10,8

Wednsday:
Incline dembell press- 3x10,8,6
Barbell curl- 2x10,8
Deadlift- 3x12,10,8
swiss ball crunch- 75 lbs. x 3 sets

Thursday: OFF

Friday:
Squat- 3x10,8,6
Upright row- 2x10,8
Flat dumbell press- 3x10,8,6
Seated calf raise- 1x100

Saturday:
Close hand pullups- 3xfailure
Leg curls- 3x12,10,8
Tricep pressdowns- 3x12,10,8
swiss ball crunch- 75 lbs. x 3 sets

Sunday:
Seated alt. curls- 3x10,8,6
Dumbell Shrugs- 4x12,10,8,6
DB wrist curls- 2x failure
Behind back wrist curls- 2 x failure

That is it. No cardio, low carbs. Oh yeh he does have a carb up or he calls it a cheat day on Saturday where he says that he eats around 7000 calories. Does this look like overtraining? I would like to try it after looking at his body today. He is about 5'10''. He weighed about 185 last time I saw him so I know he is over 200 now. Any comments?

I guess anything is possible, but I doubt most people would be able to sustain this routine for any extended period of time, especially if each set is done to failure.

I think it would be more efficient if the pulling movements were consolidated into one day, like rowing and barbell curling, and then giving those muscles 2 days to rest. Same with pushing. He's got 3 days in a row of pushing movements.
