Anyone else into crafty type stuff? I never used to be & thought they were too "girly" & stupid, but I've found I'm pretty good at it. I also paint slate tiles & make my own salsa & "can" it, etc....

Put together the basket as a spring decoration for the house. The dinosaur is a beanie baby my hubby gave me......

sweetnes(from BTS) does crafts...my mom is like the martha stewart(before the whole situation now) of tennessee.she can do anything
Me, i cant do any of that stuff

Oh, yeah, I do lots of that stuff. (Nice arrangement!) I'll have to take a picture of the Easter thing I did for my kids last year (after I pull it out of storage).

My favorite craft these days is making jewelry. I use sterling findings and semi-precious stones. My favorites are amethyst, botswana agate, onyx, peridot, flourite, ocean jasper, freshwater pearls...(there are more). I've got some gorgeous faceted red coral beads, but I use them sparingly, because after I bought them I felt SOOOOO guilty...

I also sew. Talk about girly...

Pamela I'm going to have to pick your brain!! I'm going to be adding a garden to my back yard this spring/summer so I may need help!!

I've been watching HGTV recently & am getting all these ideas.......I need to stop!!

I haven't done much lately but I enjoy crafty things. This Christmas I picked up some wreaths to make centerpieces for our tables (one for me and one for my daughter) and we put a large candle in the middle...they came out great. I used to oil paint and sew, the only sewing I seem to do now are halloween costumes every year. I love to change a room with paint and sponged my bathroom at my old house and did the guest bath here in a nautical theme with a navy blue for the bottom 1/3, then sponged on an opalessant glaze at the edge so that it looks like a wave hitting the sandy colored top part of the wall and hot glued some rope around the medicine cabinet. I've done a few window treatments and silk flower arrangements for the home too. We finally decided to do our family room in a jungle theme and our formal lr/dr in a music theme (hubby's piano is in there) so I'll be working on adding in some crafts to pull those rooms together. I also love to garden and just finished adding pansies to the front landscape...the back needs a complete overhaul and I'm not sure where to even begin. Damn the homeshows, too many ideas!

My best friend is the queen of craftiness. For Christmas she made some wine glass identifiers, they are little jewelry things made of beeds and wire that clip onto the stem of the glass with a different charm dangling on each one so you can tell who's glass is who's. She also made a scrapbook for me and a cd case for my husband covered in brown paper and stamped with the sun and moon theme, they tie closed with a ribbon. I only see her once a year but we always do something crafty together...last time we repainted her kitchen and redecorated the plant shelves with tins and stuff from the 50's.

Jen, there's a great crafts book I have that has tons of patterns for painting pots, fences, mailboxes, all kinds of stuff. I could get the title and author for you tonight and post it tomorrow if you're interested.

I do some things....but my garden is my favorite thing...I tried to learn how to knit this winter and well I'm still working at it......lol

Hey that would be great! Thanks!

For our wedding we're thinking about various centerpiece arrangements for the table. It's a fall wedding. Candles have to be in glass. The only thing I want to do for sure is carve out the tops of tiny little pumpkins and put tea lights in them. Ideas are welcome!

I do a lot of needlework when I can find the time. It calms me down and I love to me really elaborate multi-hundred hour pieces. Call me crazy, but I find it to be something nice to do for myself.

I'm more of a baker than a crafter.
I've always thought I'd find something to do - but never did.

I just bake stuff when my hands are itching to do something.

I'm making an apple pie for a friend's birthday next weekend. His wife was gonna get him one from the supermarket since she can't cook to save her life but I hate store bought apple pie so I figured I'd make one from scratch. I guess that will have to be my cheat night. LOL

Will the pickled jalapenos turn out to be hot like the ones at the store or like pickles made out of jalapenos -- kind of sweet but tangy & not overly spicy?? The reason I'm asking is I had the pickle kind of jalapenos at a restaurant & they were soooo darn good I'd love to make them myself...

Hey Jens you started in your yard?

We finished up the deck -- really a kind of platform over the concrete patio this weekend. We were going to put up a retaining wall with plants but once we moved the fence back & our yard includes the alleyway, the extra 3 feet really made a difference so we just continued the deck all the way in the back.

I'll do plants & flowers in pots & hanging pots. I still want to do a water feature tho.... :supercool

It sounds so pretty and nice..

I rather work in the yard than the house..LOL

A guy in the neighborhood gave us some banana trees.
That's what we planted this weekend. The time zone I'm in I'll have to dig them up when it starts to get cold.. But I love how they look..

I'll take some more pics soon..

:)

Banana trees are nice....my parents had some in their yard & they are nice trees. I just bought a giant resin planter at Costco today and a giant geranium. The plant was $15 and the planter $19, pretty good I think....

The deck/platform is done!! This weekend we will be running electric so we can have speakers & lights, etc.....Then to finish off the patio area!! Looking good!
